This campsite has an incredible view of Mt. Shavano. Be aware this is a walk-in tent site about 100 ft from parking area. It's located on top of a mesa with sounds of the north fork of the south Arkansas River each night and just a short hike away. There are easy trails on the property where you can hike and view wildlife-many birds, chipmunks, deer, occasional elk, and even a free-roaming llama! The property backs up to the San Isabel National Forest for miles of additional hiking and biking trails right from the property.
It's a stargazers' paradise with little-to-no light pollution. Often times, you can see the Milky Way at night.
The property owners live here, but want you to have as much privacy as you'd like. This is a place to retreat and enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors.
Dive into a little bit of history and see the remnants of Ute Native American graves and the original 1880's Maysville cemetery-a once-thriving mining town located on the southern side of the property.
This property is nine miles from downtown Salida and nine miles to Monarch Mountain.
There are tons of summer outdoor activities nearby such as white water rafting, mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, fishing, hiking, and a zip line & ropes course. There is an available paddleboard onsite (with an optional outfitted converted van) for an additional expense. Winter outdoor activities nearby include skiing, snowboarding, and tubing at Monarch Mountain, snowmobiling, and backcountry skiing.
O' Haver Lake is 12 miles/15 minutes from the property and is a wonderful place to enjoy non-motorized water sports, hiking and fishing.
If you're up for a 4x4 challenge, you can drive 10 miles up CR 240 for beautiful views and water activities at the North Fork Reservoir. It's a very difficult drive, but worth it!

Super private spot with incredible views of the stars! Mars and Ash are super responsive and thorough over messaging. We took the tip from the listing and explored the O'Haver lake area-- highly recommended, gorgeous, and we had a wonderful hike from there through Aspen forests and relaxed by a beautiful forest pool. While we enjoyed the peace of the private site, it would have been nice to have had the option to briefly meet Mars and Ash. The listing mentions trails that can be accessed from the property, but we had no idea where to even start to access the trails and without cell reception, we were not able to check with AllTrails at the campsite to figure it out. Also we were a bit disappointed to not have access to the picnic table as the listing stated "picnic table available" under Amenities but when we followed up with Mars and Ash we were informed that it is really only available upon advance request. Might be good if the listing explicitly spelled out the "upon request" part similar to the way that it says "propane grill available upon request." All in all, it was a great spot for a weekend getaway in nature!

This is a wondeful private walk-in site, between two Twin Pines with a beautiful view of Mt. Shavano. Great location on top of the hill with just a short walk to the site from your car. It's within walking distance of the Arkansas River and a historic school house - it's also a great place to stay if you are exploring the Salida / Poncha Springs area or the National Forest up the road. Mars and Ash were great at communicating before our stay and were really helpful, however I did have an awkward encounter in person when they visited and questioned if we had permission to stay at the site, later saying the didn't expect anyone to be staying on their property that night...I felt kind of awkward proving that we had the site reserved especially since we conversed over message before hand. After that, we didn't feel very welcome and instead more or a burden. It would have been great to talk about it in person and clear up any confusion.
