Antelope and mule deer.
The views in all directions are amazing from the ranch. The time we spent here was calm . Temps were great . No wind. We ended up heading out for the day to explore the area and ended up at a great little town called Cuchara . Fun tiny little town. While camping in the evening we watched deer and antelope then took pics of the full moon . The Campsite had some bush type trees . Lots of songbirds .
Secluded, convenient and quiet
We loved our stay at Hummingbird Ranch! Not far off the highway, but very secluded, so we only heard the sounds of nature. Perfect cleared areas amongst the brush and trees had us feeling like we were the only ones around for miles. A picnic table was convenient as was the porta-potty. He’s even building a shower building!! Great directions, great communication, we loved our stay at Jessie’s place! Thanks!!
Solitude under the stars!
If you are looking for solitude out under the stars in a mostly untouched prairie, Hummingbird Ranch should be high on your list. My husband and I were car camping while on a 4 day road trip from Montana. We arrived after dark (which I would try hard to avoid) but thanks to Jamie’s detailed instructions and great communication (very fast)…we managed just fine. We had been delayed by a traffic jam from a car crash in Colorado Springs. The moon rose as an orange beauty and was our constant companion all night! Just gorgeous. We left as the sun was coming up, so can’t speak to exploring the ranch at all. Great place for the adventuresome camper!
