Places to see near Erin A.’s Land
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Following a stressful schoolyear as an educator, I was in much need of a nature re-set & knew I wanted to head to the Durango area- one of my favorite places in the world! Traveling alone as a middle-aged woman felt a bit daunting though, so I checked out HipCamp & found Erin & Mick. I am so glad I did!
From helping me to finally arrive (DO read the written direction Erin sends as your GPS will get wacky!) to sending me off with a jump (I forgot to turn my car lights off, oops), & everything in between over my 4-day stay, Erin & Mick's care & kindness shines through. Visiting Tranquility @ the Farm would be worthwhile just to meet theses two, but their space is beautiful & tranquil, too. I had the whole site to myself, camping alongside the La Plata river- which was running robustly- & soaked in all the sun & water I could over my stay. I also wandered the property, harvested some sage, & visited Erin & her daughter & boyfriend at the Saturday grower's market in Durango.
This stay is just 20-25 min from town (the drive is stunning) which makes it a perfect launching off point for all your Durango activities & destinations. I will definitely be back. Two thumbs up, for sure!
Nice 1 night stay at historic ranch
Great camp with unique history of the area.
The hosts are very welcoming and we're great to chat with about their ranch and it's history.
We stayed for 1 night, the stream was flowing and the camp we stayed at was very quiet and comfortable.
Perfect example of hip camps model
Erin and Mick were great hosts and the location was fantastic. It was a bit hard to find initially because Google Maps brough us to the end of their property, but Erin and Mick waited up for us and guided us to the entrance. Once there, the campsite was a ways away. They showed us to our site late on arrival night so we didn't get to appreciate it until we awoke the next morning. Great secluded location with a creek running through it. It even had an out house and a picnic table. Not another camper in site. Perfect!
I'd recommend this location to anyone heading near Durango, It's not far from town, has some good easy mountain bike riding on property and wildlife. Got to see a rattle snake, wild turkey, bald eagle and mule deer...all at the camp site.
It was lovely and peaceful campsite. There is a clear creek right beside it. We really liked how it felt isolated and our pup was able to run free. Erin and Mick were very helpful and their instructions were very easy to follow.
Site #1 was huge and offered giant cottonwood trees for shade and the river 15 yds away. Had two families with two small trailers. Giant fire pit with plenty of wood. We had a great stay, hosts were friendly and helpful.
What an amazing little hidden gem. Almost too good to review. River was flowing and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottonwoods provided great shade. Will absolutely be back with a bigger group.
