This was such a love/hate relationship. Love the river with the steep hills behind it. Loathed the campsite itself. We stayed at echo. First and the most serious problem was being only about 50 yards from a very busy highway. When we had first looked at the site, I thought it was a private road. Nope. 24/7 there are cars going by so there is no peace and quite. Second issue was the site was an abandoned house. Plus there was a TON of trash everywhere. I learned to always leave a site better then you find it. After picking up at least 100 pieces of trash we kinda gave up. There was also no clean up of downed trees/cut up bushes. While I appreciated being allowed to burn the wood that was on the property, it was everywhere. The first night I tripped multiple times in the evening because there were branches all over. After that we went around and picked up the branches so that we could safely walk around. For $100 a night I expected the cream of the crop. Instead we got a trashed site next to the freeway.

Overall we had a great time! The host was extremely welcoming and did a great job communicating with us. We really enjoyed being able to get off the grid while still being so close to Denver.

Note that the camping sites are more dispersed and right next to the Poudre River (but we couldn’t figure out a way to get in the water). It is recommended that you have a 4 wheel vehicle.

Thanks again for the memorable trip! We will be back!

Aubree, thank you so much for your feedback and for being great guests. We look forward to seeing you next time! We have also made the river area that is not directly connected to Alpha strictly for Alpha use.(Echo still has its own river area) We have also added some lights so it's easier to find the river area!

We loved our campsite! It was so private and peaceful. Jeremiah even set up a smokeless fire pit for us, which was amazing. The river viewing area was a nice touch, as well. My only advice to future campers would be to be wary of bears. We didn’t see a bear, but we did see evidence of one having been in the area, so we made sure to be extra diligent with our food and trash.
