Great spot a short drive outside Durango, with a friendly and helpful host. Toilet and shower facilities are basic, but do what they need to. Beautiful evening and morning views.
This is by far the best experience I’ve had on my two week trip. The setting, with meadows, two horses grazing and the red rock cliffs glowing in the sunset, was utterly relaxing. Chris, a friend of Melinda’s was terrific in showing me what I might need: solar shower, potty, barbecue and where to find hot springs in town. And, then Melinda was both gracious and kind enough to help me find another route to Montrose (my next stop) due to road construction on route 50. All in all, a wonderful stay. I would definitely return, this time to do some nearby hiking.
We had a great time and it was a fence area so your puppies could run free. The view was amazing and everything was good and they even recommended a place for dinner.
We had a great time camping at Animas River Valley and the views really were stunning. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and we really appreciated the flexibility on our arrival time as we were driving from the other side of the state. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. Great Experience.
Melinda’s site is the most beautiful of our 6 week trip! The outdoor toilet in the tent covering was very satisfactory. Would have liked to try the solar shower but ran out of time. Melinda was very clear in her communication and directions. The friendly greeting by Chris made us feel welcome and comfortable.
Won me over with coffee
Melinda was incredible, she took an extra mile to meet all my needs. After a long day of traveling, she offered a cup of coffee and some fruit for a little midnight snack! The traffic from the street wasn’t bad at all and I slept like a little baby!
Melinda has a beautiful view of the animas river valley! We set up our little teardrop facing the pastures and slept very well. Melinda was friendly and accommodating. If you're bringing a teardrop, make sure you have a way to level your trailer as there is a slight slope to the field.
