If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We arrived on motorbikes, directions were good, its a rutted route to the camp sites which are effectively on a field plateau. If it had rained it would have been tough to get up to the site unless your in a 4 x 4. There are no picnic tables or toilets. The true magic of the place however happens as the sun sets first over the mountains and then as night sets in, the stars come out and the sun rise in the morning was pretty nice too. We used it for one night as a place to stop
We very much enjoyed staying at Wagon Ravine Escape. Shana is an excellent host. She communicated promptly and clearly in a friendly and welcoming manner. The property is beautiful, quiet and private with gorgeous views of San Isabel National Forest and great access to Florence and Canon City. We would happily stay there again.
Awesome stay unless it's raining
This is an awesome campsite located in a beautiful area. The lack of bathroom wasn't the best but if you're looking for off the grid camping, this is the place. I will say, watch the weather before you go. The dirt in the area has a lot of silt and will turn to mud about 3 or 4 inches deep whenever it rains. If you don't have a 4x4 vehicle (or even if you do) there's a good chance you can get stuck on the drive. I got stuck, but luckily Shana and her family helped pull us out. They said they're going to get gravel on the drive so this shouldn't be a big issue in the near future. The stay was awesome and Shana was a great host. I will stay again if I can as long as the weather is a little better.
This campsite is absolutely beautiful, and we will definitely be back! Directions to the site were clear, the host was communicative, and roads were navigable. The fire pit was excellent, and we were able to have fresh eggs and treats to feed the horses for a small fee! Beautiful view of the mountains, and the most stars I’ve ever seen. It was really cool to hear all the farm animals all day, and site felt very safe. Only con is there isn’t a ton of shade during the day, but we set up a beach umbrella and were fine. Would highly recommend!
Clean – easy to find - private
What a great HipCamp experience. The host is a great communicator, with all interactions being prompt, welcoming, and precise. We stayed at campsite number one in our full-sized 4x4 truck with roof top tent. The site was well laid out and tidy. We were fortunate to not have any rain because I could imagine that with rain, there would be some deep mud. We opted for the baby horse experience and thoroughly enjoyed it. Shana and her husband took all the time my daughters wanted, answering every question. The foals were soooo very curious! We had plenty of privacy and it was very quiet. From the ranch, you can sight Pikes Peak!
