A multi-family/friend group can expand this site both down creek to Hazelwood and across the forest line to Grove Too, just ask.

Nonagressive dogs are welcome.

$70 a night is for up to two adults and an unlimited number of children (ages 0-18). Must be over 25 to book. (Do not list children in your booking number, platform cannot distinguish between free/paying guests.)  Additional adults may be added for an extra cost of $35/night.

Access to woods and upper meadows is on cleared trails. Many great hikes within a 5-mile radius. One mile away is the north Pacific ocean (wild and cold), which you can hear at night (no ambient noise or light).  No electricity on site.  No hookups; listing not suitable for large RVs. We had the most spectacular visit to Wendy and John's place. We had car problems on the way up and had to delay our arrival by one day. When we arrived we had an enormous tent all set up for us to settle in. Wendy and John are such gracious hosts. Definitely take advantage of the food--we had a scrumptious vegetable soup and the best blueberry, rhubarb, and apple crisp I have ever had!! Given our delay, it was great to arrive and have dinner (soup, crisp and homemade bread were still warm).

The property is spectacular too, lots of space between the campsites. Our campsite sat at the back of the field next to a creek--the path through their woods takes you into a mini rainforest. We've stayed at about 20 hipcamps and this one rates as one of the absolute best. Yo won't regret staying here--near to the beach and redwoods. Next time going to stay here and go to the Lost Coast. We will be back!!!

Camping at the Grove on Wendy's property was wonderful. The individual site was tucked in by the trees with a small creek running along one side. When we arrived there was a fire pit, chairs, a work table and free fire wood ready to go. Hot water in the bathroom and showers was also a plus. The property gorgeous and is so close to the ocean you can hear it at night.

Wendy and John were helpful and friendly. We can't speak to the extras they offer (coffee, soup, and bread) but the property they've created is worth a stay. We were disappointed we couldn't stay longer.

What a beautiful stay! It was so quiet and peaceful. Wendy makes the best fruit crumble - we devoured every morsel. This land is a sweet, magical spot and we highly recommend it!

We enjoyed the easy access camp that had us positioned a 2 min drive to the beach and ocean. The free firewood was perfect for keeping cozy while at camp and the real bathroom and sink for dishes were convenient and clean. Highly recommend ordering some fresh bread and local eggs to round out your stay.

Lovely property. Be sure to explore a bit down some of the wild paths. The hosts were very helpful when we ran into a spot of bother with our RV and went above and beyond to assist us. Very grateful.

Another wonderful stay at Wusscamp. John and Wendy are wonderful hosts. The fresh baked bread and tomato soup were 5 star. Doesn’t get any better on Hipcamp.

My wife and I absolutely loved our stay here, and we cannot say enough good things about Wendy and her husband John (and their dog Louie!).

First for the basics (privacy, safety, etc), their entire property is perfect for hipcamp - its isolated, to the point where the only sound at night is the beach and the only sound in the morning are the birds (beautiful blue jays!). Second, its secluded and safe - we were at the far back camp and had no worries at all. Third, the bathrooms are great for camping. Two toilets, two showers, and clean, for those wondering.

Now on to what makes a trip special (beyond the basics) - its about a 1-2 min drive to an incredible beach. My wife and I sat there both nights near sunset and loved it. Each campsite is about 50 yards (or meters) from each other at least. Its really a private space.

And finally / most importantly, Linda and her husband John are absolute gems - they are insanely nice, caring, and delightful. I would recommend them to anyone, anytime. A few of the other reviews mention them, and for a good reason - they are incredible and caring. We bought the bread (you should too! they give two loafs which is perhaps too generous but some of the best bread we've had), and on the second day we got the coffee which was game changing. Hot and good, and John delivers it to your campsite when you want it. They're just great people, and John had some great advice about where we should go the following day (we went to Redwood National Park, just 1.5 hrs north).

(also final note, their dog Louie is the sweetest thing - he is obscenely nice, and I'd trust him with anyone. I have been a bit hesitant around dogs I don't know after an event abroad, but Louie is a sweetheart. Quiet, and really only comes to you if you ask him too. Best dog ever.)
