Featured on Cabin Porn (Summer cottage in the western foothills of Sierra Nevada Range, California.), this cabin is a whirlwind of sensations and tidbits. The arches are recycled from Korean War era arctic huts. The beams, windows, and door are salvaged from various demolition project-adventures, and the siding and cabinetry are home-made from locally sourced, rough sawn, beetle killed wood.
All of the building materials were carried by hand the last few hundred feet to their construction location, though an unprecedented, torrential storm in late March 2018 eradicated all hope of future vehicle access.
Luckily, this cabin is a bridge and it held strong as the creek below cut itself down to bedrock. Emboldened by a 15 minute adventure approach, ankle-twistingly perilous for the non-hiker, past wild grape, Himalayan blackberry bramble and California's ubiquitous poison oak, into the coziest, sleep-in-est, cutest, unlikeliest little honeymooner suite we could muster.
We haul water into this cabin for drinking, and once in, you can feel great about laying about for a morning a world away from everything.
We're working on building a composting toilet system for this space, but in the meantime, folks can use a non-smelly humanure-type bucket toilet at the cabin or our wonderful main farm composting toilet- Pootopia!
The shower is our main outdoor shower in the main farm area, so after long days folks may want to shower right when they get back to the farm, before they head out to the bridge for the night, or in the mornings before heading out.

We loved waking up each morning in the Wilderness Bridge, enjoying the sun and nature with absolutely nothing around. It was a little difficult getting back in the dark at night sometimes, but the serene mornings are completely worth it. The common areas back at the barn are well stocked and we found everything we needed to cook. The outdoor shower was very cool. Everyone we met from the hosts to the other guests were friendly and fun to talk to. Highly recommend this for a romantic getaway!
Staying at the bridge cabin was an incredible experience. Not only did we get a private stay in the wilderness, we also got to spend time with animals and the other guests at Matt and Eve’s campsite. They were incredible hosts who made us feel welcome and part of their community. We are trying to figure out the next time we can come back!

Matt and Eve were the greatest Hipcamp hosts we could imagine! They're passionate about the farm and their animals -- they've done a fantastic job making this learning & experience accessible to hipcampers.
The central kitchen is a great social space & very comfortable to relax in. We also enjoyed the privacy of the Bridge and the beautiful nature that surrounds it.
The highlight of the trip was meeting all the adorable small goats & sheep - they're so friendly & curious. I'd gladly come back to spend more time with Matt & Eve and all the animals at this incredible gem of a hipcamp.

Matt and Eve (and all the other folks on the farm) were friendly and gracious hosts who took the time to chat with us and share about their farm, community, visions and challenges. They also were really helpful with local recommendations and made us feel very welcome. The cabin was quiet and beautiful with a wonderful open window wall. Also lots of baby goats and sheep this time of year-- very cute!
I gave a two night gift for Wilderness Bridge two my adult kids. They absolutely had the best time, they will stay 3 nights next time. Love the host and enjoyed feeding the sheep and goat. They said the bed was very, very comfortable....
Wilderness Bridge is a super cute and private escape not far from Yosemite. A bit cool on winter nights but lots of blankets are provided. Facilities are great. Matt and Eve's farm is pretty and peaceful, and the hosts are so welcoming. Definitely recommended.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. The hike out to the cabin was tougher than we expected so it felt like a mini backpacking adventure while still being close to town! It was the perfect place to unwind for a weekend and stargaze. Bonus points for all the owls we heard! This feels like camping but with a cozy bed to sleep in. We will definitely return.

Me & my girlfriend stayed here for thanksgiving & were enthralled by our stay. Matt & Eve’s hospitality was top notch. Their knowledge on the surrounding parks was impressive. They could answer just about every question we had on the area. The Bridge we stayed in was lovely since we were surrounded by wilderness & quite.
I would definitely love to come back here! The farm itself is super cute (I love the dogs!), with lots of nice touches including dedicated kitchen space and a really nice shower with an incredible view. The cabin itself is incredibly cozy and very secluded. The 10ish minute hike out to the cabin is ever so slightly rugged, so just make sure you’re wearing proper footwear. The bed is impossibly comfortable (I want it for my house) and the bedding was really nice. The hosts were really nice, and I definitely recommend this stay for anyone looking looking for an elevated camping experience.
