This quaint little one room cabin overlooks our 110 year old barn and garden. In the heart of the living space of our working farm, Hipcampers can expect a little more social and farm noise (goats, sheep, dogs, pigs, laughs), clean sheets, and parking right next to the cabin. The wood burning stove is off line for the summer season due to fire concerns, and there are lots of exposed screens to keep summer sleeping temps ideal, though the cabin does get hot during the day.
The cabin is a short walk from our composting toilet, and shower building. We set up a simple separate kitchen space for cabin guests, for covid precautions. Two sleep comfortably in the comfy queen sized bed. Additional campers are encouraged to bring tent or tarp, and their own bedding, as there are two small tent sites adjacent to the cabin. A kiddo or two can fit on the floor, but bedding and sleeping pads are not provided.
Like many structures on our farm, this building is made exclusively out of home-made and recycled building materials, including the floor from an old --Antarctican-- bowling alley! There is lots of character in a tidy little package.

The Guest Cabin at Wondernut Farm (WF) is a peaceful refuge nestled in the hills ~30 min outside of Yosemite. While the farm is bustling during the day, the nights are quiet, serene and relaxing.
Carrie and the entire crew at WF are extremely welcoming and did a wonderful job of making us feel at home. They have a few other great locations on their property so we met some other travelers during the Memorial Day holiday.
The cabin itself is modest, open and breezy. It has a camping like feel -- gazing at the stars, listening to the animals but enjoyed all while snuggled under the covers atop a queen size bed.
We had a lovely time and are so excited to go back, hike in Yosemite, hang out in the nearby town of Groveland and get to know the WF crew even better.
Wondernut Farm is an absolute gem. Not only is it within striking distance of Yosemite (who doesn't love Yosemite), it is inhabited by a friendly collection of animals and people alike. The landowners are terrific and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and a part of the community.
I was lucky enough to stay in the Guest Cabin, which despite being warm during the hot, summer days, is a wonderful, character-filled place to rest your head at night. The tree-house drove me to some serious site-envy and is the perfect place to spend a romantic night with a special someone. The Dam is a tucked away from most of the other structures, and provides a great escape with temperatures that are a bit lower than some of the other areas of the farm (thats a good thing in the summer months).
I don't think one review can fully sum up the things that Wondernut has to offer, but I can tell you that I had some great conversations, learned a lot about off-the-grid/grassroots farming, and felt completely welcomed on the property. From the open-air kitchen and living room to the bathrooms with a view, this place had all the charm we were looking for and some great company to boot.
If you are someone who is not only looking for a cool place to rest your head, but also for an experience and a chance to learn something new, Wondernut Farm needs to get added to your list!
Wondernut Farm is such an amazing place nestled right above Priest Grade. Matt, the host, was so welcoming, accommodating and kind! We had a beautiful clear, quiet night and was amazing place to start our weekend trip into Yosemite. Can't wait to head back!
Wondernut is the place to go if you want to meet good people, cute animals, and be on a beautiful farm just thirty minutes outside the entrance of Yosemite. Matt and Carrie are awesome hosts and have lots of knowledge to share. They let us take part in the chasing of the baby goats and hugging pigs which was all fantastic. We had a nice cool night in the guest cabin and would definitely come back!
What a delight to stay here! The vibe of this farm is warm and welcoming. My friends stayed in the cabin and I slept on a bed under the stars- Matt and Carrie were super accommodating and flexible. Note that the cabin is for 2 people, not 4 as the description says. We enjoyed a meal together that night in their outdoor kitchen, got to meet their lovely pigs, goats, sheep, and dogs. Definitely recommend this spot, a nice place to get away and pretty close to Yosemite.
Matt and Kerry were fantastic hosts of our wacky and wonderful weekend adventures in Yosemite valley. They were super accommodating to our weird schedule... The treehouse was great for my boyfriend and I, and my sister & mom who are a little less outdoor-oriented stayed in the cabin, which was a real treat for them. Be sure to get up early (and bring your coffee) for an AM barn visit. If you dare, you're in for a wonderful surprise... 10/10 would stay again.
I really can't stop talking about my experience here! Matt and Carrie were so welcoming and lovely. The cabin is absolutely serene and cozy. When I first showed up, all of the animals were directly out front of my window, which was so entertaining. If you're looking to put some distance between the city life and you this is the place to go. I can't wait to go back in the future and stay for a longer period of time!
The hosts were really nice and welcoming. They had just dealt with a fire close by and things were in a little disarray. I did feel that the price was too high. We enjoyed sleeping outside at night and felt very safe on the property.
Amazing place & amazing crew! We had such a fun time getting to know the people (with wonderful stories) there and learning about the farm animals. The cabin itself is very relaxing and with perfect temperature on a summer night. Would love to go back to Wondernut Farm sometime in the future!
