A good value
Vivian was super nice and friendly. The hot shower was fantastic and the bathroom was clean. Good location and is close to Ojai for food, shopping, coffee and farmers markets. There was no shade but after talking to Vivian she said they will be planting trees. We would highly recommend signage and address to locate the driveway and location. Most of our time was spent exploring Ojai and the surrounding area. We had a great Saturday afternoon at camp after our warm shower and sitting at camp enjoying the warm day. We took lots of pictures and watched the large birds soaring in the sky.
We have done a lot of hip-camping and this ranch-camp is a good value for average accommodations.
Ok place to crash for the nite
Vivian was very nice but this campsite wasn’t what we thought it would be. Perfect spot for someone who just wants a spacious patch to pitch a tent for the night but lacking in natural beauty or solitude. Vivian provided plenty of information about the dam project but we didn’t realize how close together and open the campsites were.
Worked out perfect!
Booked this campground because so many others would sold out. It turned out perfect and many memories were made! It worked out really well that the other people on the camp ground were spread out. If they had been at their designated spaces it would have been interesting. Vivian was a great host and we enjoy the help of the firepit, tables, wood, etc. location was close enough to rock climbing and down town Ojai. Great spot for what we were looking for.
An excellent spot!
My family and I (including a 5 and 6 year old) really enjoyed our stay here! The hosts were kind and responsive, the site was well maintained, and the amenities were exactly as advertised. The heated shower was a big plus!
If you visit this site when it is going to be warm, be sure to bring a popup shade!
Was lovely! Very good location central to a lot of beautiful areas. love the hosts they are wonderful people. Excited to come back and see how all of the improvements are! (as of writing this review it's already better than most car camping sites)
Great little ojai-adjacent campsite
Nice place to camp for the weekend. We were there during a heat wave so we weren't around camp for most of the day. By sunset/dusk it was cool again so it was bearable, and it even got a little chilly by the middle of the night. Also the property does get pretty dusty due to the lack of vegetation, but it didn't bother us too much.
Vivian and her hosts were really nice. They provided plenty of firewood on site. There's a shower tent and portable bathroom which made it a lot more comfortable from a camping perspective. The location about 5 miles from Ojai made it a great place to set up in the area for the weekend. We ventured to Ventura for craft beer/pizza, and Ojai for the farmers market and coffee (at Beacon).
Overall I'd recommend this place. The only thing to note is that the property has a lot of farm animals, and the roosters started crowing at 4:30 a.m. and kept going until 9 or so, which was really annoying. I'd bring a set of earplugs if you plan on sleeping in past 4:30 in the morning!
