The property is 20 acres of Olive Orchards, a growing vineyard, fig trees, pomegranate trees and more set in the natural rock landscape. Villa Macala is 15 minutes from Diamond Valley Lake where you can enjoy fishing or mountain bike trails, museum and water park. It is 20-30 minutes to Pachea Trail and Simpson Park where you can enjoy more great hiking and mountain bike trails.  It is also a 30 minute drive to Temecula Wine Country.

Enjoy walking the grounds of the 20 acres and taking in the views.

We have an outdoor bathroom (please note it is a good walk uphill from the campsites) that campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.  We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy. Please bring your own tents.

  • Your own fire wood, cooking wood, starter material, lighters, utensils, etc. We offer firewood bundles for $5 you can choose to purchase at time of booking or bring cash.
  • Your own cooler to store food close to your site and grill that you need on hand since the small fridge is a good walk from those 2 places. We sell bags of ice for $3. Bring cash if you would like to purchase.
  • Your own camp chairs.

SITE AVAILABILITY AND OPTIONS: We have 4 sites available.  SITE 1: Elderberry Park. This site is for a large group up to 12 people (10 max including children while COVID-19 restrictions are in place).  Chose site 1 for groups larger then 4 people and groups with children. We recently added a shade cover over the picnic table. SITE 2: Olive Orchard. This site is located on the perimeter of our olive orchards overlooking the San Jacinto Mountains. SITE 3: Private Corner. This site is in a private far corner of the property. Both Sites 2 and 3 can fit two tents. We recommend a maximum of 4 people for both sites and have determined that for safety reasons these sites are for adults only.  If the Site 3 is chosen it would require a Polaris Shuttle from the Camp Host down to the site, a car will not be able to go direct.  SITE 4: This site is under the Oak Trees and is a very small site suitable only for 1-2 people max. All sites can be shown to camp guests for decision and viewing upon arrival unless multiple groups are booked. All sites have either a covered firepit or a wood burning stove and all a picnic table.

FIRES: SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property.  He will provide instructions.  If you have questions prior to check-in, please message us.  No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. Bring your own fire wood, charcoal, starter material, lighters, utensils, etc.

TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams & Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting only if we have the proper staff during your visit to accommodate. *During COVID-19 we still do offer tastings in pre-filled containers, we practice social distancing, wear masks and sanitize to offer them safely. Please make sure to advise host prior to your visit if you would like a tasting. Thank you.

Took a group of friends to camp at the Olive Orchard site and had an amazing time. Our host, Rich, and his family were extremely kind and friendly, making sure we had everything we could possibly need (firepit pod, clean bathroom access, hike suggestions, and access to their awesome grill patio).
After arriving, Rich took me on a ranger ride tour of his 20+ acre property and showed me 5 different locations where we could set up camp. Each of them were unique and private, offering different views and surroundings. We chose a spot surrounded by large rocks with plenty of space to set up tents. Would be fun to go back and experience some of the others!
The next day we visited their monthly family market where we tasted and bought olive oil, pomegranate and guava jams, and teas!

Genine, Rich and Nina were great hosts! Upon arrival Rich took us out to the Olive Orchards and showed us the different camp sites available.

Rich & Genine, owners of the Macala Orchards, were hosting an olive oil tasting on their property the same night and invited us to join. A few hours, couple of drinks, sips of olive oil and delicious food later, we wandered back to our camp and had an amazing night below the stars.

Highly recommended to stay here! Facilities are great and hosts are amazing!

I cannot reccomend this place enough!!! This gorgeous property is a campers dream. Every corner you turn there is a new trail to hike--the wildlife is amazing and we were sung to sleep by quail and coyotes. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful and even gave us some samples of their homemade jam and olive oil. Great experience

This trip was perfect! Rich and Genine were so welcoming and kind. I felt like I was visiting family. Rich was incredibly helpful in taking us around to all of the campsites to select which one we wanted to camp at. We were the only campers that weekend because it had been rainy the previous few weeks, so we had a wonderfully quiet weekend. We literally could hear the neighboring frogs croaking while we were around the fire. It was amazing. I was a little nervous about taking the dirt road up to the property, but that was seriously the most well graded and maintained dirt road I have ever seen. We picked the large campsite because of the views and the wood stove that allowed us to have a fire (it was a lifesaver as it was still pretty chilly in March). The ground was soft and everything was green and beautiful because of the recent rain. We spent most of our time wandering around the property and relaxing. The trek up to the restrooms is a bit of a hike, so there was some strategy to bathroom breaks, but access to a microwave was a pretty nice perk since it was chilly. Everything on the property felt like something to discover and you could tell that Rich has put a lot of time and love into Villa Macala. We were able to catch a small tasting of some of the olive oils they make as well as some pomegranate jam (AMAZING). The whole trip truly was a treat and it was definitely an entirely new camping experience. Overall, they were so friendly and so responsive. We would definitely recommend!

the only thing that the site sorely lacked was a picnic table.

We loved staying at Villa Macala! The property was beautiful and there were plenty of things to explore - our group went for short hikes, played on the boulders, and walked through the various orchards. The campsite we stayed at was well groomed and big enough to fit our large party of 8 people. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful from start to finish. They were generous enough to give us a walking tour of the property and we were able to buy homemade teas, jams, and olive oils from their various trees! Communication with them easy and open.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this hipcamp for any type of camper. Its a great blend of quiet and intimate campsites but also the comfort of having washroom and electrical amenities just up the hill!

Thank you so much for making this weekend great for our group!

I camped here this past weekend with a group of 8, and we had a fantastic time. We were in the largest site, and it fit us perfectly. Nina corresponded with me promptly with all the information we needed about the campsite. Her dad, Rich, was our host for the weekend, and he was wonderful. He made sure we were comfortable and was always a text message away. He gave us a tour of his property, and we were able to learn about the olives and different trees he had on the property. He even gave us extra firewood when we ran out. The property itself is beautiful and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding area. Beware, it can get very hot as there is not much tree cover. Our first night there, we got rained on, but it was a blessing in disguise as the cloud cover kept the area cool the next day. Rich and his wife also sold us some of their delicious tea and jellies straight from their orchards. Their outhouse is a good walk up the hill, but it was nice to have a toilet and hot showers available! My group and I had a wonderful time, and we can't recommend this site enough!
