Welcome to our Old train Caboose Sleeper with mountainous views. This is the perfect peaceful getaway near great outdoor activities, Clear Lake, and Mendocino National Forrest!

About the Property:

Our property is a grassy field and the caboose is tucked away among beautiful trees and mountain views that peak out. The open sky is perfect for stargazing, and is one of our favorite things about this property. Bird watching is another fan favorite about our spot! There are horse trails and hiking from your campsite, which are two amazing ways to explore the outdoors here. There are lakes nearby as well, namely Clear Lake, where kayaking and swimming can be enjoyed. We encourage you to check out our neighbor, just 2 miles up the road, aka, "Lodge at Blue Lakes," for boating rentals and daily beach access! We are close to Lakeport (15 minutes) - which has a drive-in theatre, Clearlake, Kelseyville and Ukiah (20 minutes). My personal favorite is Highland Springs Reservoir, an approximate 20 minute drive on country roads. Boating, swimming, hiking and BBQ available at Highland Springs as well. Our property is quiet and off the beaten path, so you can really unplug and enjoy the serenity that nature has to offer. There is no wifi on the property and cell reception is not accessible either - this is a true off-grid experience.

We are Lesbian owned and managed; LBGTQ and all are welcome here! We are olive growers so you'll have the chance to see our wonderful olive trees on the property if you'd like! Please note that the olive trees hang over our driveway and may scrape the sides of wider vehicles upon entry and exit. We have 3 friendly dogs and will do our best to keep them away from campers so as not to intrude. There is also a rooster on the property and coyotes can be heard in the distance, so if you are a light sleeper, we suggest bringing some earplugs.

We will have a meet and greet upon camper arrival, and we are around to help with any plans or itineraries that you'd like help with! However, we also respect your space while you are here. We do have other sites, so you should expect to see other campers in passing and in the common areas. The sites are well spaced out, though, and do provide you with privacy.

About the Listing:

Join us for a trip to our old train caboose sleeper, that has been redone to become a dreamy, relaxing haven for you to visit. There is a new comfy bamboo queen-sized bed for two, a hot plate, and cold refrigerator for your use. We also provide an outdoor shower and clawfoot tub with hot water.  There is also a flush toilet for your comfort. There is a small outside wash sink and a little refrigerator to share with other campers staying at our campsite. We offer fresh eggs and in-season veggies for you and your company to enjoy. Our water is artesian so drink freely and bring bottles to take some magic home with you! There is also a picnic table for you to enjoy a nice bite to eat and a front 'porch' to sit on and enjoy your morning coffee.

Additional Details to Note:

- Check-in is after 2pm and check-out is before 12pm

- Things to bring: A camp stove if you'd like to cook while you are here! Also a bathing suit since there are so many water activities and excursion nearby.

- We do not have wifi or cell reception on site. Please prepare accordingly for your travels and your stay.

- There is a fire ban in effect, so campfires are not on our property.

- We welcome your pets! They can be off leash if they will stay away from our chickens, otherwise please keep them on a leash.

- If you are inviting guests, they must be pre approved with us prior to arrival.

-  Please drive slowly and do not raise dust in our neighbor's driveway to our property.

- We are not ADA accessible.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions and we look forward to your stay!

This little sanctuary was absolutely amazing! If you get a chance to meet the host, Val, i wouldn’t pass up the opportunity! She is one of a kind for sure! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your place and for the goodies along the way. My fiancé and I will not forget our time here and more than hope we can make it back someday.

Great spot, Val was friendly and helpful. I was traveling with kids and a dog, Val set up a little splash pad for them which was great. My girls loved the fancy tub (we brought along some "spa" treatments and had a little rustic spa day.) We played a little basketball (there's a hoop outside) and enjoyed the board games we brought along, but the standout of the stay was definitely the star gazing. My kids barely even noticed there wasn't any internet, which is saying a lot.

The caboose is an absolute dream!! I will be recommending this stay to all my friends and family who want a quirky rustic getaway. The inside of the caboose is incredibly cute with everything you could need for a cozy stay and the outside deck and bathtub are wonderful. Val was very welcoming and friendly, I just wish we’d had a longer stay to get to know her better!

Our “conductor” Val was an exceptional host. The Caboose was amazing. It was cool, enchanting and a dream come true. I rode a lot of trains growing up and always wondered about the caboose. It is set up inside to be comfortable and accommodating. The claw foot tub outside was a fun surprise. The stars at night were breathtaking. I would definitely do it again. Thanks, Val!

Staying in this caboose was a truly magical experience! This caboose is nestled below the hills in a peaceful, secluded area. We spent the evening reading in the caboose and drinking tea. It was exactly the kind of evening I was looking for. The inside of the caboose feels very roomy and has a cozy reading nook :) The deck outside is also pretty amazing, the host built some amazing handmade furniture out there. The open-air tub behind the caboose was an absolute dream. It was so relaxing being outside and taking a nice warm soak to start the day. The host Val was so nice and welcoming! She left some eggs in the fridge from her chickens for us :) We cooked up some absolutely delicious omelets in the morning with them. She also gifted us one of the sweetest melons I’ve ever had from her garden. Thank you, Val! I would highly recommend coming to stay here. It’s definitely an experience I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Dinner on the porch :)The inside was incredibly clean when we arrived. Opened up some Pacificos we found in the fridge.Caboose Sleeper, All Welcome LGBTQ

Val’s caboose was thoughtfully furnished, super clean, and comfortable. The property is quiet and peaceful. Val was so incredibly gracious and the neighbors were friendly and kind. There were delicious tomatoes, peppers and a melon from her garden and eggs from nearby chickens. I’d return here in a heartbeat just to take more baths - I loved a nighttime bath with a glass of wine and saw mama and baby deer from my morning bubble bath. There weren’t other campers at the tent sites they had but everything was spaced out so if there were multiple parties it wouldn’t feel crowded. I’d love to come back and rent out the caboose and both tent sites for a gathering of friends. The site is a few minutes down the road from Blue Lake which was an awesome swimming spot - we just found a spot to jump in on the side of the road instead of getting a day pass to a resort.

We had a fantastic stay in the Caboose!! It was perfect, and just what we needed. The Caboose had everything, a small cooking stove, cutting board, utensils, cups, fridge, microwave, and more. Everything was very well organized and convenient. Thank goodness for the AC, the weekend was well over 100 degrees. The highlight was the outdoors bathtub and open area for star gazing. The hosts were awesome, Val & Jody are the best. Greeted us, and made sure we were comfortable. We can't wait to come back!!
