At the turn of the 20th century, tucked in a crook of the Feather River Canyon, the town of Pulga bustled. Gold prospectors traded stories with railway workers in the town saloons after a hard-days work. Adventurers from near and far relaxed in the lush valley under the shade of madrone, cedar, bay and pine, far from the rancor of city life. Dances were held, the passenger train made frequent stops bringing in people from all over. The town was very much alive. Long forgotten for decades, Pulga is in the midst of a renaissance. Honoring over a century of rich history, this picturesque town is once again ready for relaxation, adventure, and exploration. Whether you aim to escape the city for a weekend in the forest and canyon, host an event in a unique gathering space, or set up camp for a fishing or hunting excursion, the town of Pulga is ready to provide you with a memorable experience. Learn more about this land: Welcome to the Town of Pulga! We have full amenities for seasoned campers and first time glampers. We are nestled in the private Flea Creek valley, alongside the Feather River Canyon, Plumas National Forest and other regional outdoor activities. Communal vibes & river beach swims
Felt really lucky to visit this property! It is a historic town that's evolved into quite a unique event space and retreat. It has a very communal vibe, and lots of shared spaces to hang out and relax. My favorite part was the quick walk to the river, where they have a great beach area. There is a pool of calm water where you can float and swim around and have a super chill time especially when it's a nice hot day. We also loved feeding peaches to the turkeys, visiting the pigs, and saying hi to the many wandering dogs. I came here for a work retreat/offsite and we did make use of the wifi that was strong in many locations on the property. Electricity is also readily available in many communal spaces. Note that trains do go through the edge of the town and they blow their horns when they do, it didn't bother us but it would be helpful to know about if you have small kids or if you're a really light sleeper. I'm sure it is a big attraction for kids that love trains!

Town of Pulga on the Feather River
The Town of Pulga was simply outstanding. I can't say enough great things about the town or the incredible host, Betsy. Pulga is full of unique places to hang out, whether it's the schoolhouse, the insanely comfortable sofa boats, or hammocks throughout town. The cabanas were cozy and the bedding kept me warm even when the temperature dropped at night. The swimming hole is just a short walk from town and there's a waterfall about an hour hike away. Both are worth the journey, multiple times. If you need to stay connected, there is no cell service but there is Starlink internet. It does drop for a few seconds every now and then but is strong and more than sufficient to get things done, though Pulga is best enjoyed offline. We had an amazing time feeding the pigs, watching bath time for the ducks, and enjoying beautiful, clear skies for stargazing at night. Betsy was incredibly accommodating throughout and made sure we had everything we needed for a memorable outing. I especially appreciated the opportunity to chat with Betsy and learning how she became the steward (and town marshal) of such a wonderful place. Her hospitality and catering greatly exceeded my expectations. It was a blast, and I can't wait to return to Pulga.

Town of Pulga on the Feather River
I had a wonderful stay at the Town of Pulga. Betsy is an amazing host, and has brought magic to the once forsaken town. Forgotten no more! This is the perfect place for small and large groups, or for couples and families. Stay in one of several tiny homes and rustic cabins – or, for a more “camp out” experience, stay in one of the many primitive cabanas. There is a kitchen for those who wish to cook, although Betsy and her staff are fully capable of delighting you with their fresh, local food. Go for a hike, lounge on one of the towns many hammocks (or in one of the custom made boat couches), or take a walk down to the river for a dip. 10,000/10 – would stay again! 🤩
