“Our family of six had a wonderful time in and around Joshua Tree National Park, and Lori’s Park View home was a wonderful option for proximity to the park, but with indoor space and conveniences of warm beds and clean bathrooms. We loved having the fire pit too (score on the s’mores, we used sticks lying around on the ground from nearby plants). The photos provide a very accurate look at the home and property. Lori was extremely attentive and helpful. ”

"Our experience overall was seamless and MAGNIFICENT! We rented the Park View retreat for a group gathering of around 40 people, and no one could believe what a gem this location was. Secluded and private, it is the last house on the road with lots and lots of space to get away from the norm - yet close to local shops in case you need to make a quick run. The spot is full of character with plenty of communal areas for you to chill, get creative and change your mind-state. Besides, the backyard has its own door to the Joshua Tree National Forest... completely magical and unique."

"The Thunderbird Lodge Retreat is the perfect place to experience the wonders of Joshua Tree. Our group of six felt at home right away. Even though we never met Lori in person, small gestures made us feel invited and welcome. She left the outdoor light on for us as we arrived a bit late. There were plenty of towels, toiletries, robes and warm blankets. Also, she was always reachable, which came in handy when we had trouble turning on the gas to cook on the stove. The best part about the Park View property is that the national park is literally in the backyard. Outdoors there were plenty of communal spaces for gathering, whether sitting around the fire or in the really cool wooden dome structure that lit up at night. We brought our dog, who loved chasing rabbits and chipmunks, and felt very comfortable having him off-leash the entire team as part of the yard is gated and there are hardly any cars on the nearby roads. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to relax, rejuvenate, have fun and really bond with friends. The stars are unreal and the desert is truly magical!"

Desert magic! The land surround the property is beautiful. The house is eclectic and unique and has pretty much everything you could need - Lori probably undersells the amount of kitchen utensils and equipment. The outdoor spaces are fantastic, especially the wooden purgola structure - which had sunshades attached for our visit (I had seen pictures without) and this was an awesome feature. The property felt secluded and comfortable and it’s an easy 15 minute drive to the West entrance of the national park. Definitely an experience worth seeking out.

Couldn’t have asked for a better home and location for a very special gathering of our group of 20. This site is remote and rustic, eclectic and electrifying, the perfect balance of shelter and nature. Lori is a tremendous host. We are all very grateful for our time here.

Everything at the park view house @ the thunderbird lodge retreat was excellent. I surprised a group of friends with a trip out to Joshua Tree Park and everyone kept telling me how much they loved the site. It’s secluded but close enough to town and the park that you won’t spend all day driving. If you’re thinking about renting this site, stop thinking and just do it.

I hosted a bachelorette party for my amazing friend and we were all incredibly happy that we chose to stay at Lori’s property. There was a minor mix up with the check in date overlapping with another party’s stay but Lori was quick to fix the situation and accommodate us. We were a party of 7 and ended up staying at the Rock House which was such an adorable and quaint little house from the 1940s that was full of trinkets and antique treasures. The kitchen had cupboards full of everything you’d need and there were even the basic condiments in the refrigerator. Lori brought us extra bedding and a plate full of fresh baked cookies that everyone enjoyed. Would definitely come back again and would love to check out the other properties at the Thunderbird Lodge! 🖤

We had a great experience here. The house and bus had plenty of places to sleep and we had people camp on the property as well. The view was gorgeous, the fire pit perfect for sitting around and it's so awesome that the park is right in the backyard. We will be back!!

Thunderbird Lodge is perfectly private with a great view and easy access to the desert. Every part of the house is filled with antique to midcentury pieces and vintage knickknacks. Varied art on all walls and handmade pillows on every chair. It's very old, but clean. Not the most minimal place, but spacious. I'd take a bath in the tub, the sheets were very fresh, hand and bath towels were laid out, and the stone floors very clean. As an old place is, the water heater took a long time to heat up, the doors a little rusty, and the paint peeling on cabinets. Full spice cabinet and any kitchen appliance you’d need. Teflon pots mainly so bring your own gear if you want to cook over a fire. Piano is in tune. Lots of old time board games and a deck of playing cards. Two full bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. One of the bedrooms seems like a kids room with two twin beds fitting 5'10". Fits 6 super comfy. Additional two could be in the bus, maybe a third in the CalKing, two leather sofas adequate for crashing then the rest camping in the yard.
