Spider Camp's access is  difficult. Camping here requires experience and minimal gear. It is a  river site that requires:  a 10-minute walk from parking, only backpacks and minimal gear, a  rope-assisted stone step descent, wet feet, a tolerance for lots of insects. The campsite available only if  the water isn't too high. Please ask.

You can use only small camp stoves and 2-4 person tents. No ginormous       condo-style tents. There isn't room. Packs are needed to access this site as the terrain is steep.

This is a beautiful, secluded campsite. It accommodates up to four campers. You must provide complete gear or rent stuff from us.

Spider Camp is  SUPER unique in part because one never finds a campsite that close to a river.  The site is right on the river bank and about as close to sleeping on a river as you can get without being on a raft. With this luxury  comes the responsibility of being extremely mindful of your impacts, being  fully knowledgeable in wilderness ethics and the seven Leave No Trace Principles and Ten Essentials of Backpacking (hopefully you know them and won't need google them). If not, then you really should research it , learn it, or pick an easier site, especially as HipCamp guests follow a strong nature ethic.

Your LNT and Wilderness ethic must be sharp given the close proximity of water. NO HUMAN WASTE, NO WASTE, NO SOAPS,  Nada! You must use the chemical toilet which is back ten minutes to the parking area.

You provide tents, tent footprint (tarp), lights, sleeping bags, food, insect repellant, wood, and other stuff. There is an outdoor , hot water shower and the river (NO SOAP of ANY KIND IN OR NEAR THE RIVER.)

NO CHARMINE FLOWERS!  Ladies, do not leave your TP behind, buried or otherwise. NO DEFECATION EXCEPT at the Latrines, no matter your LNT expertise. The more you think you know, the less you do.

Stayed at Spider Camp for 2 nights and had an amazing time. The campsite is nice and sandy, very lush, right next to the river. We both took some time to explore the river right from our camp as well as drove about 15 minutes to the lower coffee camp for some swimming hole action which was amazing.

The name "Spider Camp" is a bit of a misnomer. Didn't see an abundance of spiders, however, I did accidentally walk through a web and came face to face with a large, terrifying spider. Nearly gave me a panic attack but both I and the spider got over it and had a peaceful rest of the trip.

Mehmet and everyone at the host site was incredibly nice telling us everything we needed to know about the camp, the shower (which was exceptionally nice after a long day in the sun), he also generously gave us a huge bunch of beautiful, purple grapes.

A couple of things to note, which others have pointed out: The walk from the parking area to this camp is about 5-10 minutes. We had to make 2-3 trips back and forth to get all of our stuff down there. There is a bit of a steep section, but even still we were able to carry a full cooler and camping box down and back with no problems. Overall, this camp is incredibly nice and relaxing with the river and the stars at night. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique camping spot to spend a few nights.

You MUST camp at this campsite!!!
Was our family's 2nd stay on summer for a 3 days visit to Sequoia Natl. Monument and South Sequoia Ntl Park. Very quiet and whole property feels like an oasis in Springville. Campsite literally feets away from a paceful and refreshing water stream with plenty of shadow amd trouts!!! Many places to visit nearby for day trips: emerald pools on the tule river were 15 minutes away. Took our bikes to hiden waterfalls camp in Sequoia N. Park (just 1 hour drive). This time we drove 35 min to Camp Nelson and though due to recent fires couldn't do much we went back to swimm at the tule river emerald pools few minutes from the campsite.
Welcoming hosts Mehmet and Chico keep a very nice campground with a unique personality. They have chickens and donkeys too!
Meticulously clean and nature preserveing camping. Ideal for camping in the wild w/o the usual backpacking. No noises or other pollution.
It was great to cool down in the water durimg the day and at night very pleasant to sleep al fresco in my hammock (use a mosquito net) while wife and 11 y.o. daughter slept on the tent. We took off part of the tent cover and could see the stars before moon rose.
I would bring only essentials to the campsite. Ideally on a backpack (300 yard walk and a steep but easy 20 ft. descent to the campsite)

This is such a cool campsite! Right by the river in a shady spot. The hike from the parking spot to the campsite is pretty short and very doable for anyone in reasonable shape. The bathroom was probably the cleanest porta-potty I've ever been in. Overall was a great experience and hope to come back sometime soon.

Mehmet and Xico are the most hospitable hosts. We love camping here, we stayed once before two years ago and have been dreaming of coming back ever since. It was just as refreshing of a camping trip as we remembered, can’t wait to come back 😊

We loved staying here, sleeping by the river is truly a wonderful experience. Sam greeted us and was fantastic, we really vibed with her and loved hearing about the land and area. While it is a bit steep to get to the site, we didn't have any issues b/c we used our backpacking packs and made two trips from the car. Very peaceful site, swimming in the river is heavenly. Would def go back!

What a beautiful campsite and campground. So much thought and care went into designing this place while keeping it natural and peaceful. From the river, the beautiful fall leaves, night starry skies, and a little wild life...fell in love with this place.

It rained this weekend and Mehmet was nice enough to offer a dry place to sleep. Fortunately we were prepared with proper gear and loved the rain on our tent rain fly. I would imagine many that go may not primitive camp often and have had some trouble. Luckily, Mehmet foresees those instances for others.

Having facilities is great and being able to traverse down to the river was perfection. To boot, he had dogs and 2 little puppies that came over to say hi for a perfect morning greeting. I would happily visit again. If you happen to visit, please help keep this place wild and beautiful.

Thank you, Mehmet!

Mehmet contacted us ahead of our trip to notify us of the nearby fires and road closures. He reassured us that we would not be in danger but was very honest about the current conditions which we much appreciated. We considered our options and finally decided to postpone our trip to which he said that he would honor our payment. He was very responsive and helpful and we look forward to our stay in the future.

We had the absolute best experience. The River Site Spider Camp site is right next to a river in which it is super refreshing to swim. The site is located down a hill and surrounded by lots of trees, so the temperature stays perfect. It has plenty of space for tent, cooking and lounging. We'd recommend it to everyone we know. The hosts are very kind and helpful and even told us we don't need to worry about the check-out time because there was no other booking that day.
One thing to know: There is a zip line for your luggage/equipment; to get to the camp site it is a pretty steep walk down. So pack lightly and be prepared to use the zip line to not have to carry everything down. It's about a 5 min walk from the car to the top of the zip line and another 5 min down the hill to the camp site.
