Very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.
We have increased our number of campers from 10 to 12 because we suspected that people were bringing that many anyway. If you are planning on a large group, please just reach out to us so we can all be on the same page. If you think you may be looking at more than 12, we can probably work it with the right communication. We just don't like the surprises. Thanks!

The Olive Camp is a fantastic, private farm right in town. Its just this one site, so you have the property all to yourself. There's a large open field, a tree swing, and welcoming picnic table with a huge fire pit. Sam left a fire extinguisher by the fire and we felt very safe. We spent the night in our van and it was great to be able to drive right up to the fire. There is a porta potty a few hundred yards from camp. We didn't try the cold outdoor shower but I bet its great in the summer.
This camp seems like a work in progress, with big piles of debris around and a stage and cafe that are both falling apart and not usable. I really hope Sam fixes these up, they would be so cute and fun to use. The camp is in Novato, so you can hear highway noise and there are pretty constant planes overhead from a nearby airfield. If you're looking for a remote nature experience, this probably isn't the place for you, but if you're looking for a fun and easy getaway that's close to town amenities, I highly recommend it.

Sam was a gracious host and his property is beautiful. I plan to stay hear again as soon as possible.
This was absolutely a hidden gem.....exactly what I was looking for. I have never been to Novato and I thought the Olive Ranch looked inviting. The night sky is amazing and there were wild turkeys walking through the orchard in the morning.
I enjoyed having a campfire and the peace and quiet.
I have to say that it's a good camping experience. It's not far from the urban area. We can also experience the tranquility. It's not enough to just rest for one night. The fish pond in the back gives us a lot of joy. The host is very good. He answers all the questions positively and hopes to come back again.

Truly a small piece of paradise, and within a stones throw of the Bay, this sweet 10 acre olive farm was the perfect place to gather with a small group of friends for a couple nights of camping. A huge fire pit was the centerpiece, but we had fun exploring the land, checking out the pond, and going to nearby nature preserve for hiking. You feel far removed from civilization but yet are jut minutes away from anything you need. Also being tucked back into a small valley, it’s very private. Highly recommended!

Olive Farm Camp was wonderful and the land is beautiful! It was quiet, very private, and spacious. Loved the fire pit, string lights, picnic table and access to a bathroom, and a couple solar battery outlets. One thing to note is it can be particularly windy/chilly at night because of the way the site is sort of in a valley-- so bring layers! Also, I recommend bringing a 5 gallon water jug to fill up potable water directly from the source down by the barn (or bring your own water) because the water hose up at the site doesn't taste very good-it tastes like plastic/hose.
During our time on the site we really enjoyed the small pond and appreciated that they provided canoes/kayaks to use- it was so fun! We also went on a lovely full moonrise hike at dusk on the many acres of land at the site and we saw dear, turkey, bobcat scat, woodpeckers, owls, and many wild medicinal plants while exploring. I only had to drive 35 minutes from home in the city, to feel like I was immersed in nature and serenity.
I look forward to seeing what the camp will look like as they rebuild more facilities soon, however, it was still perfect for my group, in its current state.
Grateful to Sam and his family for opening up this land to others!

Thanks Sam for opening up your space to us! I hope people take care of it and respect it so you keep allowing us to use it.

This was the second time I’ve stayed at Sam’s place and it was just as good as the first stay! Magical place
