The Grove (5 total) campsites are located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, there are no hook-ups for RVs (the access to the camp sites also prohibits long vehicles). There is access to a composting camp toilet. The ranch itself is 300 acres of rolling hills pasture, with hilltop views of the Estero Americano valley. The Grove is home to many varieties of raptors and other birds-providing excellent bird watching. Seasonally there are blackberries to fill your containers, and some hiking. The sites are subject to some road noise, as we are right on Hwy 1. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Nearby attractions include: Sonoma Coast beaches, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, coastal hiking trails, local farm-to-table eateries. Inland attractions include: redwoods, wine tasting, Russian River activities and so much more. Specifics about these campsites are: They each come with a picnic table (#1,#2, has a checkerboard painted on it-bring checkers or chess!)The grounds are a working ranch, so there is variations of the soil- some lumps and bumps and general natural state of a pasture v. a groomed lawn. There are certainly level places for tents and camper vans. The ranch borders Hwy 1, so there is some degree of road noise. Traffic usually dies down mid afternoon, and isn't too much of a disturbance. There can be however, some heavy weekend traffic during the day with car clubs and motorcycle riders enjoying the coastal highway. The Grove Sites #1, #2, & #3 are on this listing Site 4 and Site 5 are their own listing.

The good: Field was soft, lots of space, the compost toilet was working/well stocked/a good building. If you show up in August I imagine you can gorge yourself on blackberries. Plenty of space in the campsite. Boots The Cat is super soft and purrs like a jet engine.

My only real complaint is that the price seems steep -- especially for the number of cars allowed per campsite. We had a group gathering of six people coming from three cities which meant we needed two campsites though there were six of us.

The highway didn't bother me (that part of the 1 doesn't have too many cars) and as much fun as campfires are I would never in a million years rent out that land and allow strangers to make fires on it.

Loved this place. Beautiful field surrounded by trees with many birds. The hike up the hill was beautiful and the cat ambassador, Boots, was a hoot. And the Victorian outhouse was great.

The location was beautiful set among rolling hills and cows. Nice flat areas, tall trees with shade, and picnic table. Enough privacy from other campers

Some notes: the compost toilet was quite full

Had to book an additional night's stay because the first three went so well and made for a great base camp!

Perfect, farm land little camp site. Love the sights and the morning fog.

Had some cell service so no problems whatsoever with directions.
Only one other camper- so really chill vibe.
Based on other campsites I’ve stayed at, I would just say that this was a little bit priced high; can’t really take walks from here, no fires. But altogether, thumbs up!

I loved staying one night with my van 🚐 and my Frenchie. Super quiet. The little compost bathroom was cute and super useful.

We only met few of the cows on-site, and nice campers.

This little oasis is great! A bit close to the road, and on a bit of a hill, but all the sites have a decent flat spot for tents. Sites #3 and #4 are the most ideal if you are car camping. We had a heavy rain over night and the vehicle in the site next to us got stuck and had to be towed out…like I said steep hilly sections.
Overall it was great, will definitely be back again for more coastal adventures.

My wife and I stayed at Anna's "The Meadow Grove" for one night over Memorial Weekend and we absolutely loved it.

Instructions getting to the site were clear and concise to follow. We recommend downloading offline maps for the area to make things easier.

While my wife and I only stayed one night, we definitely enjoyed our stay. We chose Site #2, which we think is the best site because of the tall tree you are under and the beautiful view of the rolling hills nearby - Sunset and Sunrise were a treat!

The road noise is minimal with the occasional car zipping by here and there, but considering you're off a highway, it is to be expected. There were other campers nearby but everyone kept to themselves with a few "hellos" as they entered and exited the sites.

I suppose my only gripe would be the number of bugs (spiders, moths, gnats, flies, and large mosquitoes) you will find here -- there are A LOT! I am not afraid of bugs and neither is my wife, but you will definitely bring some home if you're not careful. We did bring bug deterrent spray but felt it wasn't necessary.

Other than the party over the knoll (assuming Site #5), my wife and I definitely recommend this site! We used it as a sort of "passing by" campsite on our way up north.

However, if we lived closer or nearby, we would book this site annually as a trip!

Oh, and you will wake up to showering birdsong at around 5 am -- it was beautiful!

Cooking up dinner! Inside our tent with a view of the sunset over the rolling hillsTucked away in Site #2!A small layer of mist/drizzle passed by during our stay and made for some beautiful foggy views

Lovely farm meadow. Spot 4 is the best farthest off the road with the most privacy. Then 3, which is next farthest from the road and close to the outhouse. Which is the most beautiful outhouse ever! The walk up the hill to see the sunset and cows is lovely. Boots the campground cat is very friendly. Even with the road right there it is quiet, especially at night. The only drawback is the meadow could be mowed around the sites and there are lots of thistles and nettles. Wear long pants shoes and socks because of this and ticks.
