Howdy, we have a new bell tent furnished with a queen bed, fully made out with all natural and organic bedding., including feathered pillows and a comforter. . Howdy, we have a new bell tent furnished with a queen bed, fully made out with all natural and organic bedding., including feathered pillows and a comforter. . There are two swiveling comfy rocker chairs, with a reading light. It’s about a 20 foot walk out of the tent to the cowgirl kitchen. This is a salvaged old-growth redwood, out building that we turned into a caretaker cabin a couple years ago. American clay on the walls instead of paint, a well thought out layout, hand made faucets, an old fashioned Wedgewood cook stove. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge and freezer, and outfitted with all necessary implements for cooking and eating. The kitchen house has a wrap around deck with outdoor seating, connected to an attached bathhouse. The bathhouse has a hot shower with an amazing view. We installed 14 old windows into this place so there’s lots of natural light. Every single piece of wood in this building was salvaged or reclaimed, its truly a work of art. The tent is also about 40 feet from the chicken coop. So if chickens are a problem, this might not be your cup of tea. This is a working farm, we grow, process and store food right here on the ranch. There are children, animals, and bugs here. If you have a fear of any of these things, this might not be your slice of ham. There are other people living here on the ranch. Be aware that the shower is shared by a very nice nice young Dutch couple living in a yurt out back. Please knock before entering the shower. It’s a five minute drive/10 minute bike to downtown Arcata, and a 15 minute drive to any of the beaches. We love this coast, with its beaches and surfing, climbing, river rafting and great biking trails, adventure is never too far off!

Perfectly situated for a short drive to take in the redwoods and coastal areas of Northern California. Yurt/Tent is very comfortable and I don't know what the comforter on the bed is filled with but it keeps you toasty warm even when the temps dipped down to the 40s at night. The kitchen/dining building is great!
Gorgeous farm close to town!
What a beautiful glamping tent and the kitchen and bathroom are a work of art! Jeff let us forage for berries, apples, and shared his eggs with us, and we had beautiful breakfasts everyday on the farm. And it's so close to both Arcata and Eureka - we loved the location! Gorgeous farm, great family, very comfy beds
This spot is a rare gem! The host was very responsive and helpful and easy to communicate with. The property itself is an oasis - refreshing views of meadows with chickens and goats to enjoy. The tent is more like a cozy big room than any tent I would picture, outfitted with a luxuriously comfortable warm bed, armchairs and built-in shelves and carpets to make it feel extra homey. The kitchen and bath house are equally lovely, built with so much care and attention to detail. Every element in the kitchen looks handmade and well cared for, from the live edge wooden counter to the ceramic mugs to the wedgewood stove to the warm colors on the walls. The rain shower is a delight! We felt pampered and so well taken care of, and would definitely return and recommend to friends. Thank you for a most refreshing stay!
This was our first HipCamp and we enjoyed our time. The accommodations were as described. What wasn't fully clear before we booked is how really close the site is to the owner's homes and lives. It wasn't really a problem sibce they were very nice and we all kept a respectful distance expect for some nice chats. It just felt a little less than camping and more like being a kid in my parents' large backyard. Otherwise, kitchen was awesome. Bed was very comfy. Owner's were very responsive, but also have lives and kids, so that's just normal, human stuff.
Love the Cowgirl Kitchen! A great place to stay when exploring Arcata/Eureka and the redwoods. The host Jeff was super attentive and always willing to help. We loved that there were farm animals on the property. The yurt was spacious and had a super comfy bed. The kitchen and bathroom had all the amenities one needs. Highly recommend making a campfire and stargazing on a clear night!
The beauty of the property is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The hosts were gracious, and the kitchen was so inviting, that I told my partner I wanted to live in it. It is truly a working mini farm (Mr. Rooster doesn't let you forget). So grateful to have had this opportunity. Definitely a two-thumbs up. I hope to rest and rejuvenate there again soon.
Awesome road trip overnight stay
We loved our short stay here! The bell tent and surrounding area felt very comfortable and open and Jeff was a friendly and inviting host. We really appreciated the thought that went into building the space from reclaimed and repurposed materials. Would love to come back again!
The space was absolutely beautiful and easily accessible. I fell in love with the layout of their little farm, and felt very welcomed by their dog Lupe. The hosts gave us a lot of privacy. We saw kids a few times, but felt that our personal space was very honored. The tiny kitchen was a dream, and the bed was incredibly comfy. The tent stayed warm, even when it rained the second night. The only struggle was the adjacent rooster. Both mornings we were woken up before 4am. One morning the rooster did not stop for a couple hours, but the second morning the rooster stopped and we were able to sleep again. At first it was incredibly annoying, but then it was kind of endearing— adding to the splendor and the character of the property. It is shocking at first though, if you do not expect it. The property is also pretty close to the highway, so it is not at all quiet. The hum of cars is near constant. However, sounds aside, this was a lovely stay. The playground was a nice surprise for my son, and the kitchen/shower area was seriously dreamy. The proximity to the redwoods, beaches, and a cute little town was desirable. I would definitely love to return to the area! The host was friendly and offered us fresh eggs from the coop. We also had cell signal!
