A misleading campsite map. There are only two campsites actually available & only one of them is okay for tent campers. One in the driveway - on a concrete slab. One in rocky dirt section behind house - luckily they added a astroturf patch to minimize the discomfort.

Inconvenient that there is not a toilet, but this is posted in the listing. I am not giving a thumbs down for this. The issue is that both camp sites are very close to the owner’s house and there are close by neighbors on all sides of the property. when going potty there is generally an audience. I am sure some don’t mind, but I wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

Host is very nice and gives campers their privacy as much as possible.

Hey Emma, sorry you thought the campsite map was misleading. We do have tent campers that like to camp in the dirt spot while others prefer the driveway. We try to make it clear on the listing that this is in a neighborhood. We have almost an acre of land, but we still have a neighbor on either side of us. Both neighbors are friendly and rarely seen so most campers haven't had an issue with this. If you are looking for more remote places you will have to go much further outside of the city than our place. Take care.

The only thing I would note is that if you have ober a 19 foot RV you are going to have to level your rig.
Be prepared with serious leveling blocks.
Our dogs honk the horn when we step outside.
Raymond came out to check on us. Do sweet. Great hosts.

Thanks Pam! Glad you enjoyed your trip! I can't remember if we offered you our leveling blocks but we do have some available for campers to use for free. Take care!

I had the deepest, most restful sleep amongst the tall pine trees, high above looking over a killer view. Raymond was a cool dude, sharing stories about his travels as an ex van lifer turned stationary home owner and family man. Only stayed for a day as a stopover between Mexico and LA. Wifi was strong and I was able to get some work done. My dog had a great time exploring and playing with the pinecones.

Raymond was very accommodating, responsive and helpful but unfortunately we weren't able to use the site. The driveway is very steep and winding (actually the entire neighborhood is) and the site itself, which really does have gorgeous views, is short and wouldn't safely fit our trailer. It is right on the hillside and at the end of his driveway, and you have to leave room for his car to leave. If you have a 20' or longer trailer plus car I don't know if you would be able to stay so definitely call and talk to Raymond first. I also wouldn't show up past dark, as parking and unhooking could be treacherous. It was easy enough to find with GPS - I wish we could have stayed!

Host had a construction project going on during our trip. There was construction material left in our space and we weren't able to set up until late in the evening as the construction truck had to have space to leave the driveway. Hopefully they will be more considerate for the next hipcamper.

This is basically a parking space in the host's driveway. Not much surrounding hang out area, just enough space for the car. There is a security light over the garage that flashes on from motion which was a bit annoying.

Upside: The views were great and the host did provide a refund part of the fee for the inconvenience.

A great spot to park your van if you're visiting the San Diego area. They’ve got a simple paved driveway in front of their house for your setup as well as an option at the side of their house. I love the pine trees around, it feels like you’ve left for the mountains while still being close to San Diego.

Gotta get the vibes right.Love the mountaintop views. Site 1 parking area. Chillin in my van when it got a little drizzly outside.
