The Bird Line nests on spacious slice of open desert and features a shared open-air shelter - a nice shady respite in the desert, central to six reservable campsites. Sites are available to tent campers, self contained mobile units such as vans, vehicles with small trailers, and adventure vehicles (motorcycles too). The shelter (repurposed homestead cabin) offers a gathering spot for campers to cook and socialize together, and includes a shared kitchen sink with hot and cold washing water. The host has a bedroom and private bath in the shelter. For guests there is an outdoor bathroom - flush toilet (with optional bidet), fulled heated shower and sink. Care is being taken to disinfect shared surfaces.
Come enjoy the raw desert - the views are gorgeous. It is a quiet place, this Wonder Valley. Come think, write, and make art - star gaze, and sit around the campfire or hang out in the Hammock Hut. Hike nearby at Joshua Tree National Park (or Bureau of Land Management areas). Socialize and listen to live music at The Palms Restaurant, the local watering hole.
When booking, select the site that best suits your needs:
1) and 2) - best for vans and adventure rigs
3) - best for car and tent
4) and 5) best for vehicles with small trailers
6) park near the shelter and walk in to pitch tent

Micheal’s property is beautiful and he was very kind and helpful throughout my stay. I would recommend his site to anyone and stay again when I’m in the area! Thank you Micheal.
Quiet desert getaway
We loved our stay at the Birdline! It has a clean flushing toilet, sink, and even an outdoor shower with hot water. It was so convenient to cook/wash dishes. Michael also has a BBQ that he kindly let us use. Community campfires were super fun. The location itself is great for star gazing. If you are looking for a quiet time in the desert away from the crowd, this is your camp!
Great Property! Michael was very responsive and a great host. It was fun to chat with him and he was so welcoming at his house.
The outdoor shower was so great after a hot day in the desert.
Peaceful sanctuary in wonder valley
Another lovely stay at the bird line! We were greeted by Micheal and a nice fire. The outdoor bathroom, sink, and shower are all really great features—very clean and beautiful design. I always feel so at peace here. Thanks for creating such a beautiful space and sharing it with us!
Away from crowds with amenities!
Secluded yet easy drive away from JT attractions and Mojave. Michael was attentive and helpful. Shower, toilet and shaded hang out area with outlets were welcomed amenities after being on road for days.
The Birdline is a serene, calm and rejuvenating place to visit. Michael is a thoughtful host whose attention to detail can be felt and seen everywhere. A wonderful place!
Camping at the birdline
Four friends and I had a fantastic few days camping at The Birdline. The location is amazing, and Michael is a wonderful, highly-organized host. He has created a great aesthetic with the custom-built and renovated facilities, and provides for all a camper's needs. Michael knows a lot about local hikes, towns, day trips to Joshua Tree NP, etc. Five stars!
