It's a quirky upcoming spot with great views! On the property or nearby, there are a cluster of mobile saunas, a disguised pottery studio in blue containers, floating houses, a tasty BBQ joint and a flea market. To see such creativity adds another layer of relaxation. Campers we met are professionals from the Bay Area; people are looking for a quick getaway from our fast-paced lives.
Our host Robert is very quick to respond. When our truck's battery died, he sent us the caretaker to jump start the truck. Within 10 minutes, there were 4 cars coming to rescue us. It was Sunday evening, and we were the only one camping, but we slept good knowing a heart-warming help is one phone call away.
Nice location close to Point San Pablo, with an easy walk to the Black Star Pirate BBQ. This place would be incredible for RV and trailer campers. Tent campers, be aware that the sites are entirely rough gravel. We had an air bed so it wasn’t such a big deal but if you’re on a thin mat it would probably be uncomfortable. Water and a portable potty a few sites down, kind of nestled by sites 3/4. Easy to miss because it looks like part of those sites, not a communal access point. Robert was really responsive and friendly, and we really enjoyed watching the sunset and sunrise, and the seals playing offshore. We also saw some raccoons, hawks and deer.
Perfect for a van
This place is great and soooo different from any other "camping". We stayed in our Sprinter van and had a blast. I don't think I would have liked staying in a tent here.
Cool spot. Definitely better for car or van or trailer camping rather than tent camping. The ground is rocky and you are really close to your neighbors. The raccoons are absolutely insane-o. So make sure your trash cans are all completely shut or you will experience a myriad of sounds at night!
A great little spot for a low key night out of the city. Great views of the water. Next time I'd like to try the SF Bay side for a view of the bridge. There were some feisty racoons though.
