Great family camping experience
This was our first time booking a campsite through Hipcamp and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Summer & Jacob are excellent hosts. My kids had a blast playing with their kids & they were really excited to catch bluegill from the pretty lake. I appreciated the quiet and privacy of our wooded campsite. My only advice to other campers is to heed the suggestion about 4WD for sites closer to the lake. I traded in my Subaru Outback a few months ago & the trek up to our campsite made me regret that decision. Drive something with decent ground clearance or request a site closer to the entrance of the property. Can't wait to go back!
One of the best
What a great place to truly get away from it all. This was definitely secluded and dispersed camping at its best. The hosts were amazing and extremely friendly during our stay. They really love what they are doing for the visitors and it shows well. They have great plans for this place and we are definitely going to return in the near future. 4WD highly recommended to get to some of the more secluded spots. We can't wait to go back.
When the National Forests closed right before our camping trip on Labor Day weekend, I found this place and booked it based on the price and reviews. There were six of us all together, my husband and I with our 4 and 2 year old, plus my parents in their travel trailer. We told Jacob we had wanted to try fishing, so they showed us a spot closer tot he lake, but when we said we were worried about driving the trailer to that site, he said it wasn’t a problem and showed us another site, which was perfect. As we started setting up, Jacob gave us the 411 on pests/ bothersome critters that may bother us in the area and what to do if we run into them. While we stayed there, we fished with our tiny kids (not much luck when you have a two-year-old splashing in the water), walked up and down the road between sites, and hung out in the shade. My parents loved how close we were to several large lakes and the 168, which made it easy for my sister to drive up with her kids and visit us for an evening. I would 100% recommend anyone who wants an easy to get to, well maintained and secluded camping spot. My dad is already planning our next trip up there!!
Wonderful retreat, wonderful hosts!
We had a great time! Summer and Jacob are extremely accommodating and helpful - be it making sure you have everything you need for a great experience or answering whatever questions you might have about the land and the numerous creatures on it. The land is great with plenty to explore and always something to find, and the sites are well-built and positioned to ensure a sense of privacy from other camp sites. Dusty as it might be, it doesn’t dissuade a thing! The weather is great, the bugs aren’t terrible, and it’s a wonderful getaway. We spent the weekend (Friday through Sunday) and will definitely be staying again in the future!
Wish we could stay longer!
Awesome host, service, and property! Jacob was our main POC once we arrived. Our party was coming from 3+ hrs away and got there late and Jacob took care of us.
Summer was great at answering all my questions beforehand.
Jacob is a true woodsman. He checked on us every now and then. He gave us a little tour showing us animal tracks and chatting. Jacob loves what he does and it really shows. We were the first to use the site as he had just cleared it for the booking. He even made a table and bench!
We saw him even do valet service with another party, helping them park their cars and everything!
We took a stroll around the lake and took some nice pictures. This is a great spot when you want to get away and need some seclusion.
As we left, his kids were able to play with our son while we packed and he offered to make us walking sticks!
Don't hesitate to come out here. The terrain is dusty, weather was perfect. Not many bugs. We made it out to the site near the lake in a prius.
Wonderful hosts! Fun experience and beautiful area full of potential! My group stayed only one night but after meeting with Jacob and setting up our space we wanted to stay longer! We will definitely be back! Summer and her husband were so welcoming and helpful! Just a great time all around!
Summer and her husband were incredibly friendly, hospitable, and had great communication. They stopped in to check on us in the afternooon and helped us set up the fishing poles properly. Sure enough a blue gill was caught within minutes. We enjoyed our time there and look forward to seeing more changes on their property in the future as they continue to work on their land
The cite is very remote if you want to get away from the city life for a few days. Jacob and summer were very accommodating when we arrived after 8 and took us to the cute where we camped for a few nights. My oldest wanted to catch a fish and with jacobs experience living in the area he was able to catch a small blue Gil. Over all great experience!
