This site is beautiful. You not only get to have a beautiful sunrise and sunset by staying here, you also get to meet the host. The host of this site was the best part of staying. He is very generous, has amazing stories, and you can clearly tell he cares a lot about his animals and keeping his farm in beautiful condition. He also mentioned to us that people with horse trailers looking for somewhere to stay can stay here, just let him know beforehand. The site is large and open and there are some shady spaces to park and pitch a tent to get out of the heat. You can also camp out in the meadow for an evening underneath the stars.

Jamie was an awesome host! This place is great. There are alpaca, horses, and chickens. We enjoyed talking with the host about how he cares for the ranch and animals. I took my boys and they had so much fun. Jamie was super accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend!
We booked at last min. stay at Jamie's ranch, which is located quietly in the middle of an almond plantation about 3h north of San Francisco.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly man who turned out to be James. He's a man with tons of stories and memories that he loves to share.
We camped by the fence next to his neighbor. Besides from the dogs that barked (mostly because they were curious), everything was really peaceful and relaxing. We fed his Alpacas, groomed the beautiful and incredibly friendly Arabian horses.
James let us use the fridge, so the beers were cold, had picked up gas for the BBQ, made a bonfire at night to grill S'mores on and let us pick olives and cherries from his garden.
Don't expect a remote campground where you are completely isolated. It's more like a farm stay where you'll engage with the host and the other guests. But it's definitively not the last time we'll be visiting the ranch.
James was a fantastic host. So welcoming and friendly. We loved his home and he provided a restroom and wifi. He was a wealth of information in every way. Wish we had more time to enjoy his property. Truly a gem.

My family and I had a great time at Sterling Ranch. James was an excellent host and took the time to show my children around and teach them about all the animals. We definitely will return.
It was a nice location and the host was very hospitable. He was very happy to offer fresh produce and eggs from his garden. He also had knowledge of the area and local happenings. He offered to take us on a couple tours, as we were there to see family we declined. He is a talker though and you should be really up front when you get there if you do not want to be disturbed. The other issue was the roosters. They start at 4:30 in the morning.

They Roosters have left to spend time with the Foxes. If one desires an intimate or private experience there is plenty of space in the back meadow which provides a private and quiet wilderness farm experience surrounded by wildlife.
James was very hospitable. He greeted us immediately and introduced us to all his animals. He has amazing knowledge and stories to share, we loved meeting and feeding all his animals!
His horses were especially beautiful and friendly!

It was a wonderful experience having Jesper and his friends from Denmark visit the ranch. We shared food, campfire rituals, and customs. I learned alot about Denmark and plan to visit there soon!
