Hello! We have a Peaceful meadow about an acre away from our house. There is a big heritage oak tree where you can enjoy a beautiful shady spot. It is by the road but there are only 3 houses back where we live. Instead of cars you be able to hear the cow, goats, turkeys, chickens & roosters that live here. Our property is fully fenced!! We are 3 miles from Rollins Lake Reservoir where you can boat, ski, paddle board, swim or just have a lazy day fishing! There is plenty of space for your boat and gear. We are a few miles from Stevens trail, a great hiking or mountain biking trail that will take you to the North Fork of the American River. It has some gorgeous views! Grass Valley is a 20 minute drive down a scenic road of farms, wineries, and forest. Grass Valley is a quaint town from the gold rush with the Empire State mine. It is now a state park and it was the largest gold mine in the state of California. It’s a beautiful place where you can go back in time and go down an actual mine shaft!! Nevada City with is cute town of the gold rush era as well. They have great restaurants, microbreweries, cute fun shops to walk through and is a place to get your yoga on! We are 66 miles from Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe! Go rafting down the lazy Truckee river or just enjoy the clear water and scenery of Lake Tahoe. In winter when I-80 closes because of snow, Colfax is the place that happens! You are more than welcome to come camping to wait for the freeway to open back up! Hope to see you soon!

Messaged the host on the way there to let her know we were close by. She messaged back to say we couldn’t stay there! That it had snowed a few days earlier (which we knew and were prepared for) and a tree was down blocking her driveway. We paid to stay there several days before our trip and the host never reached out and said there were any problems. We still have not received a refund. I guess we would’ve been turned away once we got there had I not messaged her in advance. This left us scrambling to find alternate accommodations with sunset quickly approaching in a snowy area. Not cool. Would not recommend. Basic decency would have been to let us know before we started our trip and left our home with nowhere else to go. Really disappointed with this host.
We had an absolutely fantastic time at the farm. Rachel was the perfect host, going out of her way to make us feel at home in the farm, and introducing us to the local area. The farm tour was very thorough, and we had a lot of freedom to play with the animals as we pleased. Locally the Rollins Lake was a great place for some swimming and paddleboarding, and the small towns of Colfax and Grass Valley had lots of quaint little shops and cafes to visit. Will definitely visit again!
