Echo Valley is an ultra-private campsite nestled deep in a valley surrounded by steep hillsides, the only campsite on the lower 40 acres of the 101 acre property. You cannot see any homes, campsites, or trace of other people except an occasional hiker from our other sites.

The campsite is adjacent to an ancient live oak grove with enough palms and boulders mixed throughout that it seems you are in Jurassic Park. The temp under that canopy stays 15-20 degrees cooler.

Campers may collect firewood on the property, however, we do sell firewood bundles for $8 through hipcamp.com or Venmo @SplitrockFAR. Please do not leave fires unattended. Extinguish fires completely before departing camp. Thank you!

Splitrock Farm and Retreat offers guests access to 101 acres of land, which includes beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and Mount Jacinto to the east. Guests have access to 6+ miles of walking and biking trails. Feel free to explore the farm. Please stay on the designated trails.

We are located 5 miles from downtown Fallbrook, 14 miles from wine tasting in Temecula, and a mile east of Camp Pendleton.

When visiting Splitrock Farm and Retreat you may hear training from Camp Pendleton. The nearby coastal and mountain terrain support a variety of military training at the base. Fleet Marine Force units use Camp Pendleton's ranges and training areas to maintain combat readiness, which can often be heard from campsites throughout the day and sometimes into the evenings.

Keep children in sight and pets on leash as there is a variety of wildlife that visit frequently, including coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, foxes, snakes, hawks, spiders, and more. Two Great Pyrenees patrol the property. They are sweet, loving dogs to all humans and pets, but they keep the coyotes and bobcats from killing my goats. If you do not want Holly and Molly near your campsite then please message me to keep them fenced-in.

Please NO: Hunting, fireworks, fires outside of designated fire rings, tossed cigarette butts, fruit picking, or loud music after 10 PM.

Beautiful and private group campsite with lots of shade! Exactly what we needed. Trash cans, potable water, the cleanest portapotty ever, firepit, picnic table and even a couple of chairs. Will definitely be back.

This spot was very secluded and felt like no one else was around! It was a quiet property overall with lots to see and trails to walk around with our pups. The only unexpected happening was one of the dogs who I believe lives on the property came to our site barking loudly and took a few tries to send him off - we didn’t want any issues with the dogs we had on site. Luckily nothing happened as our dogs were leashed but a word of warning to people bringing dogs who aren’t necessarily friendly with stranger dogs - this could be a potential issue. However, outside of this incident, we were pleased with the ease of the water hose near the fire pit for extinguishing embers, the abundance of firewood around the site, and the location of the portapotty close but not directly near on the site itself. A little more regular service on the portapotty should have been appreciated but we knew what we were signing up for, so no harm there. Overall this was a pleasant stay and we would happily return again.

This is truly an epic campsite. It is very private, in a valley with lots of shade. It is made up of 3 separate areas. The campfire is on higher flat ground, no shade, open to the stars. The eating picnic table area is near the fire but down lower with a good amount of shade. Then further away is a cul de sac of sorts where you can camp or park your 4x4 cars, a large area with lots of tree canopy cover.

We saw a pack of coyotes come through our site and we even got to see a tarantula! There are trails near where you can see the beautiful views of the nearby mountains and valleys. All very close to the campsite. Having a hose dedicated to the site was really helpful and there is a ton of firewood everywhere.

Only complaints were, it was very dusty, the ground on the site is mostly loose dirt and there is lots of it. There isn’t a lot of flat ground, so if you’re camping with 6+ and everyone wants to bring their own tent, someone will be sleeping on a bit of a slope. That said, it was still one of the coolest sites I’ve stayed at and we will be back!

So fun! Tons of shade at the site, lots of room for multiple tents, and the site is secluded but not isolated. The instructions were really helpful, and there’s a cute map of the property to help you find your way around. Everything was well-maintained, and the whole experience was delightful!

We loved the private camping of Echo Valley! The trees provided excellent extensive shade during a hot day, and the breeze aided in keeping us cool. The site is roomy. The potable water is easily accessible, and gathering firewood for free was great! Detailed directions to the place from Ben were thorough - you’ll want to follow these for a 2-wheel drive vehicle.
