Located 12.8 miles from the gate of Yosemite National Park (the closest Hipcamp to the south entrance,) 5 miles to Bass Lake (8 minutes), 5 miles to Oakhurst (8 minutes), and 16 miles to Chukchansi Casino, you're ideally situated to enjoy the Sierra Nevada Mountain range right where the old stagecoach used to run to Yosemite. Nelder Giant Sequoia Grove is not too far away either. Oak trees, pine, and manzanita dot the site in a peaceful location. Located on 12.2 acres, our land is rural, undeveloped, mountainous, and gorgeous! Great views of the valley can also be seen. You may be accompanied potentially by a few other Hipcampers. Please pack out what you pack in. Rules: WE NEVER ALLOW FIRES, OR MUSIC as our guests come for peace and Solitude even if alone as sound carries through the canyons to other homes. No water, or power are on site as this is primitive land but cell service is just fine. There is a portable toilet available for our tenters. PLEASE KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN IN THE TOILET AND PICKUP ANY TRASH anywhere you see it even if it's not yours please as this is how we keep the prices low. Note: A reservation through the The National Parks Service will be required to drive into or through Yosemite National Park from May 20 through September 30, 2022, for those driving into the park between 6 am and 4 pm. The good news is, we are the closest Hipcamp to the entrance of Yosemite so simply wake up early and drive through the gate before 6AM and enjoy your day in Yosemite without a reservation!!

Solitude by Yosemite, & Bass Lake
Private, but plain and pricey
Solitude certainly describes this set of camp sites, sitting atop a foothill just off of Hwy 41. Camp was very quiet apart from the din of wildlife and the safety of my person and my belongings never felt in question. The bathroom facilities were adequate for a port-a-potty experience; I was never anxious about using the bathroom. However one of sites I noticed was a bit too close to the restroom IMO, and I wouldn't be happy if it were my site. I was the sole camper during my Friday to Sunday stay so I cannot comment on noise from other campers. However I did notice that the sites (4 total at the time) were not exactly that far apart from each other considering the Solitude moniker. The surrounding views were pretty and the night sky was nearly perfect. As for the site itself it is incredibly bare-bones in both facilities and recreation. There's not much of interest in the way of nature at the site as it is quite exposed, few trees are on the site. Be prepared for the heat even at 9am during the summer due to the exposure, shade is very scarce on site. Overall my stay at site 1 was pleasant but I believe the price to be a bit steep given the best use of the site is to just purely sleep and leave for you excursions immediately in the morning to beat the heat. I wouldn't return to the site either until the evening for the same reason. The lack of recreation also suggests to use the site for purely sleeping.

Would not recommend at price point
Overall my time at Solitude was just ok. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but I wouldn't call it terrible either. Host was good at communicating. Site looked nothing like the pictures. I pulled into a dirt area with a 2 foot deep trench, probably 50 yards long, brush piles everywhere, and an equipment trailer in the parking area. That was disappointing. I feel like the price was extremely too high for the property. The stars were nice and it was quiet, so that was nice. But overall I would not recommend this property.

Quiet solitude!
Quiet and easy to get to. Nice sunset sky and plenty of cell service. The other campers were quiet as well. Definitely recommend!

Solitude by Yosemite, & Bass Lake
Very private, but needs work.
Very difficult to stage our 36’ 5th wheel into our site. We were lucky that there were no other campers so we could use the whole area to get backed up. Entrance gate needs trees trimmed and porta-potty moved to give more access room. Site was very quiet and private, but piles of trimmed tree branches and junk lumber was a turnoff. Too high of price for what we got.

(1) The location was remote but had a good view of the night sky. (2) The porta potties were smelly. They could have been better. It seems like they were not taken care of. (3) There was no proper flat surface to do any sort of cooking, so we had to go to the bass lake.
