Camping in Franklin's backyard was a perfect, easy pit stop on our way from SF to Oregon for the total solar eclipse.
-view of Mt Shasta from his property
-Pre-set up tents on arrival
-Nearby hiking and lakes, where we swam and frolicked
-Franklin had showers, a restroom, and coffee
SWEET lil spot tucked in a magical redwood grove, conveniently right off the highway. GREAT for biking and as a home base for day trips to scenic spots. Friendly Franklin & cuuute bassett hound Otto are wonderful hosts + a nice social firepit to meet other hipcampers.
After a long drive, we arrived to a very welcoming environment. Franklin was very hospitable and even loaned us a few items to complete our camping experience. This place has a great view of Mount Shasta and the stars were just magic. I highly recommend this place.
Had a nice night at Franklin's place. There were a bunch of other Hipcampers staying as we were all on our way North to see the eclipse. Was really fun getting to socialize and hear about everyone's adventure plans.
Campsite is Frank's backyard, which is unlike any backyard I've ever been in. Giant trees and a cute dog will greet you when you arrive. Perfect for a quick pitstop. Access to a bathroom and shower was great too. Thanks Frank!
Host is very accommodating. We arrived late at night and there was plenty of light for us to set up our tent. There was some confusion about whether there was a rent or not provided by the host. We could not find one but it did not bother us sonce we had our own. Bathroom and laundry room we're easily accessible and had nice touches like a towel and a few toiletries. God location and we would return next time in the Shasta area.
