Sky Fire Ranch is a 5 acre parcel of land located on the last frontier of the Californian wild west in a place called, "Wonder Valley." We're less than a 10-minute drive from the Oasis (or the East Entrance) into Joshua Tree National Park, and are surrounded on all sides by wilderness areas such as the Sheephole Valley, Cleghorn Wilderness, and of course... Joshua Tree National Park. In fact, you can access the park on foot from Sky Fire Ranch. Yes, you can hike into the park from the ranch -that is how close we are!

Campers at Sky Fire Ranch can enjoy amenities such as the cowboy tub, horseshoe pit, hammock garden, star gazing spots, BBQ and dining area, community firepit, vintage cars and boats, and array of hiking and adventuring just a stones throw away.

Pictures do not do Sky Fire Ranch justice, so come and see for yourself the 360 degree views of desert landscapes, off the charts sunrises and sunsets, and of course the world class star gazing nights. You would be hard pressed to find a better spot to view the Milky Way in all So Cal...

We currently have 4 sites for rent including one Lotus Belle tent (campsite #4), and 2 Saharan style tents (campsites #3 and #2), as well as Betsy the RV! (site #1)

Sky Fire Ranch is absolutely enchanting and full of so much charm. I originally booked one night as i planned on simply passing through. 1 night turned into 3, i could not seem to get myself to want to leave this oasis. Travelling as a solo female i felt absolutely comfortable and confident in my safety at sky fire ranch, and with the host Mac. I had a few unorthodox
requests and he exceeded my expectations.

This is my second time staying at Sky Fire Ranch and yet again it didn’t disappoint! I celebrated my birthday here with friends and we all had a wonderful time. The utilities were clean, beds were comfortable, and we loved the hang out area! It’s very close to town and the entrance to JT! Also the stargazing was amazing. Mac is very friendly and answered all of my questions. Thank you for everything!

The Tent was amazing and super comfortable. Large bed with comfy bedding. The area for cooking was perfect Stove for cooking and bbq for bbqing. The best was star gazing on the hammocks. Lastly the hot shower at the end of the day of hiking throughout Joshua Tree National park was epic.

Mac was extremely friendly and accommodating.
It was our first time doing something like this, we wanted to get a good view of the stars without light pollution.
Mac has created a pool for his guests with a cute shower to cleanse before and after entering the pool.

He also has a more private outdoor shower in the parking entrance so take sandals for your walk there.

The tent itself was huge, very roomy and we were so looking forward to the night winds and feels of nature.

The only thing that we were not comfortable with was nature being too close for comfort. Somehow insects came into the room (we closed very well before and after entering our lotus tent). I would suggest bringing repellent and something to sleep over your head to keep critters out.

Next time we will be better prepped with googles advice since we cant avoid nature when you are in nature.

“Use insect repellents and mosquito nets if your tent doesn't have one built in. Burning mosquito and citronella coils or candles can help keep them away in the evenings, and DEET is known to be a very effective deterrent”

So if you are a weenie like us maybe find something not so nature focused but if you dont care about insects then this is for you.

Id come back with more preparedness for insects because Mac was super hospitable and i love the creativity for the space with the addition of the pool and hammocks.

Generally very cool spot with incredible stargazing. Mac was very welcoming to the space and shared some nice context around the history of the camp.

That said, the tent itself was not tied down well and caused a ton of noise the entire night, especially when windy. Indoor space was also not super clean. I got the impression I was the first person using the tent in a while and that Mac hadn’t got the chance to fiinish set up the way he normally would do.
