Spend a weekend in our rustic tiny house, the "Socal Surfshack". This is an alternative to pricey hotels and fancy rooms. Your neighbors are our 2 angora goats and a bunch of chickens, 2 Chihuahuas, 1 guinea pig and our family of three. We offer surfboards for rent, surf lessons, goat hikes and the occasional bonfire. The beach is 1 mile away from here and if you are the adventurous type we can take you sailing on Mission Bay.

The tiny house comes with a bunk bed (2 single beds), outdoor sink, Bbq, hotplate and small porch. Your private outhouse has a shower and a COMPOSTING TOILET. (It is not a flush toilet but a very basic composting system).

Our main house is pretty close to the cabin, so it's more of a hostel atmosphere and less private but since the main attractions of our area are the beach, bay, breweries, farmer's markets (on weekends) and a great local food scene you'll most likely be busy exploring or catching some waves...

The hosts are GREAT! Very accommodating, friendly, flexible as far as coming and going with respect. We loved their tiny farm and they were very open to sharing their green way of living; two fresh eggs and 2 passion fruits were in a small bowl when we arrived to our tiny house. If you have a vehicle that is larger than a compact car, you will need to park on the street at the end of the long driveway, which was easy for us to do since our bag was on rollers. The beach is a short distance, easily accessible with a short bike ride or jog. There is a small koi pond with a couple of seats just outside the tiny house. Be prepared for a camping feel, basically replace the tent with a tiny house! The wash basin is right outside and the enclosed bathroom with the compost toilet and homemade shower (great hot water) is a short walk around the corner. No TVs or computers, a welcomed weekend to unplug (kinda, we had our phones). Bamboo provides a cozy, private feel and in the morning we were visited outside our sliding door by the free-range chickens. Buttercup and Cotton Candy (goats) warmed up to us by the end of our weekend stay. We biked all over the Balboa Park museums and attended a live, outdoor production of HAIR at The Old Globe Theater. THANK YOU to our wonderful hosts, I am sure we will be back!
