These sites are nestled in a beautiful, old oak grove. This is real wilderness, and has feeling of complete seclusion. Our newest campsites, just opened April 1, 22, with brand new outhouse available.

The property is perched on a mountaintop overlooking the North Fork Consumes River Valley, with views looking East toward the Crystal Range, Pyramid Peak, and Desolation Wilderness. We have a small system of trails to wander on, with beautiful, towering oaks and pines. This is only an open site, and no water or electricity is provided.

We have a very quiet and peaceful homestead, with just nature sounds to enjoy. There is no noise from highways. However from time to time you will hear some power tools or occasional gunshots from distant neighbors target practicing. While our neighbors' houses are distant, our property borders on several others. Please respect our neighbors' property & privacy and never cross fence lines. We aim to create a peaceful, welcoming, and safe environment. We believe in diversity, inclusion, and equity for all people!

Visits to our goats, sheep, and chickens available with "Walk with the Animals" reservation, which is $7/person. All goats and sheep were bottle fed, lovingly raised, and like new friends! As our dog is a vigilant protector, we need to make sure proper introductions are made. She definitely wants to meet you! Please keep dogs away from animal pen at all times, and on leash while on the property. All animals are kid friendly and like lots of pets and scratches.

If you are more into glamping, please see our tent site #4. If you have a larger group, please see listing for Group Site #6, which has a wonderful view. We also offer a standalone trailer option called the Ridgetop Acorn Clubhouse.

There are easy drives to the Cosumnes River, Apple Hill, Shenandoah/Amador Wineries, Sly Park Recreation Area/Lake Jenkinson, American River, Oldtown Placerville, and South Lake Tahoe. Cosumnes River Gorge hosts a famous rock-climbing area, just 20 min away. There is a lot of Goldrush history sites and we can recommend some, upon request. Coloma, the historical town and site where gold was first discovered, is about 35 minutes away. There is no river access through our property.

Great spot, very quiet and well organized. Jonesy & Marie sent me instruction, I found the spot no problems. Camped under the shade of a great big oak tree, Sierra foothills at it best.

It's a great spot, check it out!

We had a lovely long weekend camping at Fjellgard Ranch. Prior to arriving, Jonesy was friendly & prompt w/ communication, answering our questions & arranging add-ons: fire pit, farm fresh eggs & “Hike with Animals” excursion—all highly recommended! Site #6 is definitely the best, occupying a spacious spot under a grove of oak trees & a treehouse platform w/ a beautiful view of the valley.

During our stay, it was relaxing spending early mornings enjoying coffee & the fresh eggs surrounded by chirping birds. Middays, we explored nearby: Downtown Placerville, Boa Vista Orchards, Sly Park, etc. In the late afternoon, it was nice returning to a shady campsite and run-ins with Stevie & Polaire, the guardian ranch dogs. On the “Hike with Animals” Rhea (cute house pup) and Jonesy led us on a journey of the ranch trail system. The friendly goats & sheep munched on all greens in sight, and it was adorable watching them fall behind and race to rejoin the herd. In the evenings, we cooked delicious meals w/ ingredients sourced locally (must visit the butcher shop, “Kings Meats!”) & spent nighttime stargazing next to the fire.

Overall, Fjellgard Ranch is a wonderful slice of land that feels secluded, but not far from the amenities of the nearby town. In May, the flowers are blooming & the grove of oak trees make for a shady retreat during the summer months, but be aware of the swath of mosquitoes around sunset. Perfect for a relaxing, slow-paced getaway surrounded by nature & animals.

Tent camped at this wonderful place on April 13 with my niece and her 5 yo daughter. The location is absolutely amazing! Off the beaten path in a serene grove of mature oak trees on top of a hill, we slept under the swaying branches with only the sounds of nature. We were at site #6 with a treehouse for the kids and a grand view. I would highly recommend staying here! For a small extra fee, we added firewood/use of their fire pit and walk with the animals. It’s just like it sounds- Jonesy takes the sheep, goats and dog for a walk all over the property and you get to join them while the goats run up and down eating everything they can get ahold of! Lots of fun. The entire property is a very special place. It’s in a remote location but just follow their detailed directions and you’ll find it no problem. And we had good cell service there which was unexpected. Thank you, Jonesy for everything you did to make our camping trip A+. We will definitely come back again!
