ADULTS ONLY.

BE SURE TO READ THROUGH ALL OF THE INFORMATION PROVIDED PRIOR BOOKING. YOUR INSTANT BOOKING CONFIRMS THAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT WE OFFER.

We are super fun, kind and easy going hosts who have been at this for over 4 years  and think we've covered all of the vital stuff below. Please take the time to read it so you know exactly what to expect before arriving. Feel free to reach out with any questions before and during your stay. Thanks!

*STUFF TO DO* Santa Cruz County and the San Lorenzo Valley (where we are) are  full of amazing, outdoor activities, wonderful food and awesome adult beverages. A quick google search for any preferred activity or genre will result in a lot of options. We are hard at work on compiling a detailed list for our guests to review, but haven't gotten that finished yet.

*OUR VIBE* If you're looking for an ADULTS ONLY, beautiful and quiet place to enjoy a comfortable stay under the majestic redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, you've found it!  While we do enjoy the energy of young children, we live in a very quiet neighborhood and have made the decision to exclusively host adult guests looking for a restful retreat. Our ideal Hipcampers understand that their neighboring guests booked our spot because they also wanted a peaceful get away and are respectful to keep voices down. We ask everyone to respect a 9:00 PM quiet hour to ensure all guests will enjoy a peaceful night. We have a Santa Cruz, relaxed, funky, functional, vintage, relaxation focused ambiance. Make sure to look up and enjoy the beauty of our trees and open sky.

*IMPORTANT* GET HERE BEFORE DARK.

*CHECK IN* Guests are welcome to arrive between 3 PM and TWILIGHT.  If you are not certain you will arrive by the time it starts to get dark, please book for the following day. Feeling disoriented in the dark is no fun for anyone. It is a bit of a hike up to the tent and we do not light up the entire route. Guests are supplied a remote to operate the market lights that are lining a portion of the pathway up to the site, but we limit the amount of light pollution to ensure a camping experience. Also, it's always a good idea to bring a flashlight or to use the flashlight on your smart phone any time you're in a camping situation.

* FINDING US* Guests will receive easy to follow, detailed driving directions upon us receiving your booking. Please review them carefully before reaching Highway 9.

* PARKING* There are assigned parking spots for each tent. Park diagonally, facing  the sign for Blanche Parking and make sure to allow room for guests to access the gravel driveway next to the garage. This gravel driveway leads to our Sam n Alex listing. Do Not block the gravel road next to the garage.

* FINDING BLANCHE* Once guests park diagonally in the assigned spot, they will walk up the gravel driveway that is to the left of our detached garage. You will see a string of market lights on the hillside leading to the grove of redwood trees that houses the tents. There is a luggage wagon available for guests to haul their things up the steep hill. Guests are asked to leave it near the parking spot sign upon check out.

*LIGHTING* Guests will find a pink, padded hanger in the luggage wagon that has a remote attached to it. The remote is for the string of market lights along the path to the tents and is to be used to find your way to and from the bathroom when it's dark. Please turn them off once you're cozy in the tent again.

*BATHROOM & BATHING* Guests will have access to a stall shower and flush toilet inside our home and access details will be provided upon booking. Guests will also have use of the bathroom and outdoor shower at the pool. We provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash at both showers and provide one bath towel and one pool towel per guest. Guests can drape wet towels on the chairs at the pool or outside of the tent to dry between uses.

*EATING* We do not allow food or drinks other than water in the tents because it attracts wildlife that we don't think you'd enjoy sharing the space with. ;) We encourage guests to support our local food and beverage establishments that are within walking distance. A list of our faves is provided in the tent. There is a fridge available in the pool cabana area to store leftovers and ample seating to enjoy them poolside. If guests choose to bring their own food, all eating and storage of food must be done outside of the tent. Guests are welcome to eat at the pool, or outside the tent in the chairs provided. Wait. Did we mention that there is no food allowed in the tents? Oh, yeah.... good. We provide filtered water and cups in the tent for guests, too. Nothing else to drink is allowed. Again - attracts things we don't want guests to have to deal with.

*LOUNGING* Guests will have two, folding chairs and two, small, folding tables outside of the tent and lots of cushioned, lounge and regular chairs at the pool. There is a picnic table and some old, funky, wooden chairs and a cool, vintage lounge chair near the communal, propane, fire pit for communal use.

*AESTHETICS* Our home was built in 1937 and the pool was built in the 1970's. We have a funky yet functional vibe here, and love all things vintage. You will see proof of our Rustic Shabby Chic life every where. There are quite a few projects on our to-do list that we are working on, so be aware that this experience will not be heaven on earth. ;) We strive to keep things clean and organized and expect our guests to be considerate of others and clean up after themselves.

*CAFFEINE* We know how important that pick me up upon waking is, so we offer KEURIG coffee and assorted teas in our kitchen. We have basic sweeteners and creamers available. We ask that guests leave the space tidy.

*COZINESS* Blanche is a comfy and cozy canvas tent outfitted with a private, outdoor, seating area, a full sized, pillow topped mattress, crisp linens, 4 standard size pillows, down comforter, quite a few decorative throw pillows, a comfy, vintage sofa, and other vintage furnishings, rugs, lamp, fan, mirror, insect repellant, usb charged bug/night light, and power to charge your devices.

*NEIGHBORS* This is one of 5 sites at Rudy Ranch. There is another tent  approximately 75 feet from Blanche. The tents are separated by a group of redwoods and charred leftovers from the 2020 CZU fire. The tent entrances face opposite directions. A bamboo fence blocks most of your view of our home from the site. Guests will see a few of our neighbors' homes as they walk the property, but the tents are not in our neighbors line of site.  The tents feel very secluded and private.

*RANCH CAPACITY* Our 8.5 acre property offers 5 short term rental options. The property's maximum capacity is 18 and all guests have access to the swimming pool, pool bathroom and shower during their stay. We also reserve the right to have our family members enjoy the pool at their leisure. It is rare that all guests are using the amenities at the same time, as many of our guests come to area for all of the hiking/surfing/mountain biking/sight seeing/shopping experiences that are available nearby.

*CAMP FIRES* Due to the drought and the extreme fire danger in the area, there is no open flame allowed except for the communal, gas fire pit in the yard between the pool and our home. As the weather cools and IF it rains, we may begin allowing wood fires in the communal pit, but it is a day by day decision. Guests are allowed to use the gas fire pit for s'mores and we ask that all trash is placed in cans.

*CREATURES* The Santa Cruz Mountains are home to a great deal of wildlife. We enjoy having deer walk through and dine in our yard every day. Guests may encounter squirrels, skunks, foxes, quail and all other types of birds, and possibly (but quite unlikely) mountain lions. Guest will definitely hear our forest friends from inside the tents and should not be alarmed. Guests are asked to ensure that the zippers to the screen doors and window vents are securely closed at all times to help keep insects outside.

*COVID-19* While we offer soap, hot water, hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray we trust that our guests are taking precautions to stay safe and will practice social distancing while staying with us. We clean and disinfect the bathroom regularly and ask each camper to clean up before and after themselves to ensure their own safety.

*WIFI* Guests are provided network information upon booking. Please pay close attention and use exact spelling AND punctuation to access the correct network during your stay. It can be spotty at times, but is available for all guests.

*CHECKING OUT* Guests are asked to leave dirty towels in the laundry basket provided in the tent, pre treat any accidental stains on linens with the stain remover stick that is provided and to send a message notifying us of what to be aware of, and to ensure that the screen door zipper is completely closed when they leave.

*CONTACT* We are always just a message away should guests encounter any difficulty or have any questions. We prefer being reached out to during your stay over hearing about something we could have helped with after our guests leave. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us any time! We want your experience to be lovely!

Join us and enjoy all the Santa Cruz mountains have to offer!

Blanche was very cozy. I was alone the first night and with my daughter the 2nd night. I felt safe alone and the directions were pretty easy to follow. I would recommend not arriving in the dark, like I did. Once I got my bearings, I was very comfortable and the combination of being in a cozy bed & in a redwood grove was so soothing. I could hear critters and I loved it. The shower and bathroom and morning coffee all were nice and very appreciated as well. I have already recommended Blanche to friends.

Beautiful views, not quite glamping

Not quite glamping. More like a Holiday inn than a Marriott. Overall it was clean and accurately described.

Pros:
- everything was clean
- main bathroom was well stocked. The kitchen inside was large.
- the redwoods were beautiful
- the pool was clean and the pool area was big
Cons:
- tent site was uneven. The bed hurt my middle aged back.
- furnishing were all older
- bathroom and shower in main house were small for me (I’m 6 feet tall)
- shower by the pool was tiny with nowhere to put toiletries or a towel

Staying in Blanche was somewhere between camping and glamping - not a bad thing as it’s pretty much what we expected. The tent itself was very clean and tidy. Nice touches like pool towels and filtered water.

The tent was a bit cold as nighttime temps were in the 50s - so just be prepared for that.

We wished the sink in the shared public restroom had been cleaner. Otherwise the pool area has most everything you need including a grill sink and fridge.

The place doesn’t have a very private feel as you walk past the host’s living room to get to your tent and to the bathroom/pool area. However, they were friendly and offered to help us with anything we needed. I’d stay again!

Response from Gordon, the Host, on October 13th, 2021

Hi Zaven, thanks for your recommendation. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay. Since your stay, we have moved the parking spaces for the Glamping Grove so guests no longer have to walk as far or past our living room. It's so much easier now for guests to use the carts to haul their things up the hill! We also would have loved to know that the sink wasn't in tip top shape during your stay. We strive to keep things clean and sanitized, but once in a while things slip. We always encourage our guests to reach out with anything we can do to make their stay more pleasant while they're here. We're so sorry that we missed taking care of that! We really enjoyed hosting you and would happily welcome you back any time. We do hope that you will return, as well will be making some pretty cool improvements during this winter season. Safe travels and HAPPY HIPCAMPING! Gordon and Roni Rudy

The site is very close to the center of Bolder Creek, but feels like it's in the middle of a remote redwood forest. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pool was a nice place to relax in the warmer hours of the day. I definitely would recommend and may be back myself sooner rather than later.

The tent itself was super nice, as was the host! Pool area is probably way nicer in the summer and the hot tub wasn't working, but was able to have a nice propane fire :)

Had a wonderful stay in the misty redwoods! The hosts at this site are great and very helpful. They responded quickly via text to any question or request and the stay was quiet and beautiful. Really close to some great hikes and bike rides. It rained the night we were there but Blanche was toasty warm and dry, with some of the softest sheets I’ve ever slept on. Can’t say enough good things about this spot.
