Come and enjoy nature in the Sierra foothills while listening to the birds sing. You might get to see a quail family or a flock of wild turkeys come through. Drive right up to your tent site (approx. 12'x16') which is about 200' from communal cooking area, and 50' from the outhouse. Enjoy cooking in our communal outdoor kitchen equipped with a sink, counter tops, propane stove, and earth oven. Bring your dutch ovens and cook on our special fire brick table. Sit around the fire pit and tell stories or roast marshmallows with friends. Enjoy the enclosed outdoor hot shower before retiring for the night or to start your day. Our donkeys love treats such as banana peals, apple cores, etc. and will thank you with a hardy HeeHaw. Just 31 miles from Yosemite Valley and only 9 miles from historic Mariposa. Fresh eggs and garden produce for sale when available, just ask.
At Sanctuary of the Oaks we currently have 11 campsites. Sites #2 through #7, and #10 are tent sites. Sites #1 and #8 are group sites that can accommodate two or three tents. Site # 9 is a 12 ft x 14 ft wall tent set up on a wooden floor platform. And the RV1 site can accommodate up to a 20 ft RV, no hook ups. It is possible to park your vehicle in front of, or next to all of the sites. However most of the parking spots are small and not level. So if you are planning to sleep in your vehicle, we would recommend that you book either the RV1 site, or book one of the other sites and park in the ‘extra parking’ area next to the ‘round house.’

The site was gorgeous, with tons of oaks, and wildflowers still blooming. Becky was an awesome host. Everything was well maintained and well supplied. The first few nights were too warm for a fire, but on the last night it was great to have a campfire with a huge supply of firewood. Lots of different creatures throughout the area, like turkeys, goats, roosters, and of course the donkeys!
Peaceful property with well kept outhouses, hot showers, and a wonderful outdoor communal Kitchen! Great and affordable place to stay when visiting Yosemite/Mariposa! We would definitely stay here again
This site was a great place to stay right outside of Yosemite. We drove from Sequoia NP and needed a place to camp so we could drive into Yosemite in the daylight. Sanctuary of the Oaks had great campsites, very clean outhouses and clear directions to reach the site. We didn't spend very much time there in the daylight, but our time spent there was enjoyable!
Great spot that is conveniently located near Yosemite. The bathrooms are spotless (for outhouses) and the donkeys were entertaining. Very nice host.
Sanctuary of the Oaks is a very special place for so many reasons. It's one of those places you never want to leave and consider renting the site by the month.
We stayed as it was close to Yosemite (hour drive) and it had just snowed and rained. The host Becky messaged me before we even checked in and advised us of the ground condition and offered to help us find the best spot when we arrive so we wouldn't be in the mud. Becky and Jim graciously offered us a different spot that was much better than the camp site we had reserved. I won't go into the spot details but it was dry and a great shelter for 20 degree winter night. They were very accommodating and friendly and had the best chats. Found out they also run wilderness and survival classes couple times a year, which I would honestly love to partake in if opportunity was there.
The camp itself is so well built. There are 10 spots, most for tents, and they're very well marked. They are a little close together but as long as you don't have a loud neighbor, you'll be just fine. The outhouses are both clean and did not smell. The kitchen is so well equipped. They have 2 propane stoves and a huge table you can literally build a fire on to cook and their homemade earth oven! It has multiple counter spaces and a sink with soap. There are multiple outlets to charge your phone as well.
As campers, we all know how amazing hot showers can be and they have TWO!! Since it was freezing weather, they had it turned off but immediately turned it on for us when we expressed interest the day after we checked in.
Aside from a very reasonable price on an amazing campsite, the hosts are what really makes the place special. Thank you Jim and Becky and I hope to see you two again in warmer month!
Jim and Becky were exceptionally nice and welcoming. All installations were well kept and clean. This is a great place for a peaceful night, not a party.
Amazing quiet place with great commodities.
Great place to stay. We decided late to take a Yosemite trip. We drove 1-1.5 hrs each day into Yosemite. Worth it. The outdoor kitchen was great!
