NOTE ON VEHICLES: 4WD or AWD WITH GOOD GROUND CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED due to steep, rutted farm road with loose gravel in summer and mud in winter.  Tesla model Y and similar vehicles that may be called "SUVs" but are very low to the ground are not advised.   You are welcome to borrow our 4wd vehicles to take your gear down and back for $20. We have to charge you $100 for our time and expertise to try towing you back up. AAA and other roadside assistant services will not be able to help you. Regular RV's not allowed, but 4WD camper vans are fine, as are light pop-up and teardrop trailers  with 4WD tow vehicles.

The campsites are set along the edge of a meadow beside the creek, and are sheltered from coastal winds, offering soul-restoring solitude and quiet. Redwood #1, situated within a towering stand of redwoods, can accommodate larger groups. Site #2 is set right by the creek and backed into a stand of redwoods. During Covid 19 group size at each spot is limited to 8 people including children. Four campers are included in the listed price, with an additional fee of $15 per additional person per night.  Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring (with grill) and access to a port-a-potty. Bring your own potable water and be prepared to take away your trash. Well-behaved pets are most welcome (despite what it might say during the booking procedure), although please keep them away from our working dogs that are guarding livestock within our pastures.

This private camp offers direct access to the many miles of hiking trails on the ranch. By heading uphill through the redwood, fir and bay laurel forest to the open uplands, you will be able to view the hundreds of acres of natural pasture lands of the ranch (with our ducks, goats and Scottish Highland cattle) and a view of the sea. Sunsets can be spectacular. Returning downhill, you will end up at the creek and your own camp. If you prefer a less strenuous trek, try the path that meanders for miles alongside the creek, through more meadows and into an enchanted canyon. Four Wheel Drive tours of the ranch and forest are available by arrangement at an additional cost, enabling visitors to see the most scenic, remote and hilly areas of the property.

You can have all this without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. Whether it's sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars!

If you want a private creek side camp, complete with redwoods, that is a hundred times more quiet and secluded than any public or Forest Service campground, check us out!

Early check-in and late checkout can be arranged, if your site is available. Be sure to stop by our rustic "Mercantile" on-farm store that has a selection of our ranch products (including meats, organic duck eggs and other items). You can select what you would like to barbeque at your camp spot or take home, and leave payment in the form of cash, check or credit card as you choose.

There are no lights at the sites and it gets dark earlier than you think. No arrivals after 9 pm. Once you book a site, we'll send you an email with additional information about the camping, a trail map, ranch tour options and directions for finding your spot. No RV's or trailers (except for pop-ups) due to steep access road in .

I'm a little hesitant to write this review because this place is a gem, and it's already hard enough to get a spot at Salmon Creek Ranch! When you drive in you are greeted by a herd of bleating goats running beside your car welcoming you. There are dogs and ducks and cows, and you feel like you've come upon a true blue working farm, which you have, but while you can buy duck eggs and meat and pet goats, don't expect your camping experience to feel like you're on a farm. To get to the camps, you drive past the farm, down a long, bumpy dirt road lined with redwoods, and come out to an amazing meadow. There's plenty of sunlight and space in the meadow, but the campsites themselves are protected from wind and sun in the redwood grove so you won't hear the wind all night or get baked out of your tent in the morning. This camp is absolutely magical, quiet, peaceful and private. It's a must camp. Hopefully you're lucky enough to get a spot!

This is a gem of a campsite. The road getting down to the valley could be rough, but walking in would take maybe 10 minutes if your car can't do it. Once you are there, the two campsites share an open field and trails all along the property to hike, bike, or run on. It can be quite chilly in the eve and morning depending on the time of year—so come prepared. But it is a really lovely place for camping and the hosts are extremely kind!

Campsite #2: We loved our stay here! Very quiet and private- even with the 1 other campsite nearby, we saw their campfire but never heard a peep. John met us at the gate, even though we arrived a bit later than we expected, and drove our belongings to the campsite (less than 5min walk, but my car couldn't take the short hill by the creek). Nice firepit and picnic table at the campsite. Porta-potty nearby. Extremely friendly people own this beautiful ranch. We wanted to take our dog on more trails but we stopped after seeing too much poison oak (they warned us though!). Just a short drive to Doran Beach/ Bodega Bay. We definitely recommend it for a quiet weekend, and would love to visit again!

We spent Thanksgiving camping, as a family, at Redwood Camp. Site #1 is set back off the meadow, nestled in with new growth redwoods. It's an amazing setting. There is an ideal spot for a large tent within the trees and immediately next to the fire ring and picnic table. A second tent could be set up, but would probably have to be in the meadow if you want flat terrain. The ranch is secluded and stargazing is perfect, minimal light pollution means a clear night results in every star in the sky shining bright. We enjoyed hiking the trails on the property during the day. Dieckman's in Bodega Bay is a great spot to restock on firewood or other supplies. Redwood Camp is as good as it gets, when you need an escape to the coastal hills and forests.

Our Subaru Outback had no issue with the trail terrain to descend down the hill from the ranch to the campsite. Campfires are the best part! #smores Trails and room to roam for the kids!Plenty of space, nestled in amongst the redwoods.

I recently stayed at campsite 2 and had a great time. The hosts were friendly and helpful, shuttling our gear from the gate to the campsite, and checking in on us in the morning. The site is at the edge of an open grove that is surrounded by trees with a creek ~15 feet away. There is a fire ring provided with a grate to cook over, and ample kindling found in the surrounding woods. There are many hiking trails that are all accessible from the campsite. Overall, it was a great experience!

Our group of 8 stayed at campsite #2 for a night but had to cut the trip short because it was raining so much that all of our gear/food/bodies got so wet on the first morning that it wasn't going to be possible to dry off and wait it out to see if the rain was going to stop. The land itself is gorgeous and would have been heaven on a dry or sunny day- big open field to run around in, nice fire pit, easy stream access, and plenty of room for as many tents as you'd like, both within the redwoods and in the open field. We hope to come back here again soon so we can really take advantage of all the site had to offer! Also, we had one Subaru Outback that was totally fine getting up and down the road to get to the campsite. The other two small sedans were left up top and we shuttled stuff back and forth, with Lesley's help.

Gorgeous ranch! The redwood campsite was just perfect- secluded from other campers, cool shaded area for your tent, picnic table, fire ring with grate, and bathrooms nearby. I highly recommend taking the farm tour to learn more about Lesley and the history of the farm. I also highly recommend making a pit stop at the mercantile store on your way to your camp site. Cooking some duck eggs for breakfast was the perfect way to end our camping weekend at this ranch!

We stayed at campsite #2 for two nights over the NYE holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our time on Salmon Creek Ranch. The site was nestled just to the side of a beautiful redwood forest and Salmon creek. The hosts were very helpful in bringing us firewood, telling us about the ranch, and showing us trails on the property. The setting couldn't have been better; we spent a lot of time walking through the woods on the property, and driving along the Russian River, and spending time cruising up and down PCH. There is so much to do in NoCal, we will certainly be back. Also, I strongly recommend grabbing some of the Duck Eggs from the Mercantile store on the ranch...delicious!
