Very promising but needs work
Host Ryan is really good, friendly and helping. The camping area does need a little work. I wish it were clearly mentioned that we cant park right in front of our campsite. We would have to walk up a hill taking our gear. I am travelling with 2 kids 12 and 15, so that would not have worked for me. Luckily the host let us camp closer and we were able to park right next to our tent. However the ground was very uneven and kids couldnt sleep. Overall, its a great place and with a bit of work this can be a great camping site!
Beautiful sites, great host
Ryan's land is absolutely gorgeous. My friend and I stayed at site 1, which felt extremely isolated and had a wonderful view of the ranch. Ryan is a new host and was prompt in replying to my questions. He was very kind in person and the vision behind his ranch is awesome.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For campsite 1, and potentially the other sites as well, you need a 4wd car with decent clearance to drive up to the sites. Otherwise you will be walking into the sites. I have an Outback and my friend has an old Honda CRV and we made it up no problem. There is no clear road to get there - we had to follow Ryan across his land as he drove us up to the site. No rocks, nothing dangerous, just some good off-roading, with a semi challenging steep right hand corner. DONT TRY TO FIND THE SPOTS ON YOUR OWN. We considered doing this and there is zero chance we would have found it. There is nothing marking the sites or the route there.
Campsite 1 (and i assume the others) are very rustic. There is no water or toilet or anything at each site - just a trash can you can use. The water and toilet are located at the entrance of his property. The site itself is not sculpted or maintained - there are flat spots for pitching a tent but nothing has been cleared away.
The views are excellent. Ryan's valley is filled with great trees and vegetation. Our site overlooked Monterrey and we could see Big Sur in the distance. He was ready and willing to hike us around the property and show us some cool spots (we couldn't take him up this time, but i will plan for it the next time i am there!!). Ryan was kind, excited to meet us and very amenable to our needs/desires. If you are looking for a spot to get away from it all and leave civilization behind, Ryan's land is a wonderful spot to do so. We still had cell service.
Thanks again, Ryan and ill see you next time!
Perfect. I’m an Eagle Scout and this place goes down in the books for one of the best camps sights I’ve stayed at. Super friendly host. You can’t go wrong by going here. It’s amazing. Great views and the nature is just gorgeous.
The host was very accommodating. Especially since our camper trailer was unable to reach the spot we initially booked. This was no fault to the host. Campsite 1 would have been an awesome spot had we been able to make it. Again the approach to the site had been mentioned but we attempted anyway with negative results. Overall very nice land to camp on for a few nights.
