Rockingbird Meadow - Camp 11

Very nice and private space about an hour away from Yosemite MP. Groveland too is a great little town with full services.

Location was great for Yosemite access and Grovedale resources were super close (drive a mile up the road for more in-town options). Quiet, private, primitive campsite set in the trees. Vanessa was a responsive host and helped us figure out a one-night stay.

Dusty and dirty. There was pieces of trash haphazardly raked out of the way around the camp site. It was insanely dusty and there were more bees than I could count. There’s also no properly flat area to put a tent. There’s also no sign on the entrance of where to go and the gps does not take you to the right place. There’s also no dumpster to put trash when you leave.

Site 11 had lots of bees in early July when we went. We set food out (raw bacon) far away from our camp site and that seemed to be the only thing that kept them away at all. Otherwise, the site was pretty dusty, and not extremely level, but the location is basically impossible to beat.

It was slightly confusing upon arrival because GPS ends up taking you slightly further down the road, however Vanessa picked up the phone when we called and was very helpful in guiding us to the entrance. Our campsite was very nice. Plenty of trees to keep us shaded in the 100 degree weather. Would certainly camp here again if we head out to Yosemite for a second adventure there!

Such a sweet little camping spot near Yosemite. Isolated so you get the full nature vibe but close to a little town for access to creature comforts. Our party had a dog who loved all the smells and had relatively free range. Looking forward to returning!

Vanessa was very responsive to all of our requests. She has a lovely property. It was quiet, lots of trees and had areas to walk.
Other camping neighbors were close enough to wave hi on the way in but each site is secluded and felt private.
