Walk in a couple of hundred feet to a tucked-away site on our fully-protected working ranch and nature preserve.

HIDDEN has a soft, leafy roof and soft flooring and is surrounded by trees and shrubs. It has almost full shade all day. It is close to kitchen and toilets and fire pit and Wifi and dining tables. It's a one minute stroll to Turtle Cove, our swim hole.

This site has a maximum of one tent.

Kitchen access: Communal kitchen- we'll have a sign-up board. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.

Refrigerator, microwave, cook top, sinks, dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans, etc. 10' diameter river rock fire pit (extra firewood available by donation), propane bbq, swimming in North Fork Tule as season allows, miles of hiking trails on ranch.

River Ridge goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elev. and passes from 3/4 of a mile of superb riparian corridor through Valley Oak grassland to Blue Oak Woodland and ends in Chaparral. Abundant wildlife. Next to Giant Sequoia National Monument (free).

We are about a one hour drive to Sequoia National Park, but we're only 16 miles to groves up Hwy 190. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily accessible and others more remote.

Our ranch is a nature preserve and an educational/demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.

Please see the Rules and Safety section to review our Waiver of Liability.

Our friends at WildPlaces host all kinds of community outdoor events and are a Hipcamp site, too.

We booked 3 weekdays for our honeymoon and this place exceeded our expectations! The weather was pretty hot and sunny, so it was nice to cool off at Turtle Cove. We found it super convenient to have pretty much any cooking supplies you could need available. There are so many little surprise details about the communal spaces that popped up throughout our stay, which I won’t spoil for you here!

In regards to the surrounding area, we loved visiting the Sequoias for the day. The waterfalls nearby are a hidden gem usually reserved for locals, but Gary’s directions there will allow you to enjoy them no matter where you’re from!
As many other reviews have said, it is clear that Gary has put a lot of work into making this an amazing place to stay. We will definitely be back and tell our friends!

The River Ridge Ranch is a little slice of Heaven on Earth. My friend and I had a wonderful time there with our dogs. We really enjoyed the swim hole, hammocks, kitchen setup, outdoor shower and that our dogs could be off leash.

The kitchen was fully supplied with not only utensils, but condiments, foil, instant coffee, etc. it was a nice surprise there was so much there. We brought our own sponge which I’d recommend.

Gary came by a few times and was a pleasure to chat with and gave us helpful info on what to explore.

Overall our trip was fantastic and we’ll be back! Thank you, Gary!

This compound was amazing! Gary was a great host and an even greater person! The sites were all secluded but close to the main area that had a huge fire pit and full kitchen. We loved the grill and fridge access. It was really right in between glamping and camping. Highly recommend going up to lower or upper coffee camp to swim in the Tule River. Would 100% stay again.

Beautiful ranch with a nice stream running through it that was perfect for the 98 degree weather. Loved the common area, nice not having to unpack/pack cooking stuff. Bathrooms were clean and the outdoor shower was great! There was even WiFi if you stand in the gazebo. The provided directions made it seem as though it would be fairly difficult to find but that was not the case at all. I didn’t like that our campsite was sitting on top of a gopher metropolis as I rolled my ankle on one of their many tunnels (I think we will book Turtle Flat next time). Overall an excellent compromise for a glamper and a camper.

Response from Gary, the Host, on May 29th, 2020

Thank you, Kristopher and we're thrilled that you enjoyed River Ridge. As for the gophers, welcome to nature. We appreciate them for their important soil work and those burrows allow rain to go deep into the soil and keep it cooler for longer into the season. I hope you'll gopher that explanation... ! Gary
