Walk in a couple of hundred feet to a tucked-away site on our fully-protected working ranch and nature preserve.

HIDDEN has a soft, leafy roof and soft flooring and is surrounded by trees and shrubs. It has almost full shade all day. It is close to kitchen and toilets and fire pit and Wifi and dining tables. It's a one minute stroll to Turtle Cove, our swim hole.

This site has a maximum of one tent.

Kitchen access: Communal kitchen- we'll have a sign-up board. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.

Refrigerator, microwave, cook top, sinks, dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans, etc. 10' diameter river rock fire pit (extra firewood available by donation), propane bbq, swimming in North Fork Tule as season allows, miles of hiking trails on ranch.

River Ridge goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elev. and passes from 3/4 of a mile of superb riparian corridor through Valley Oak grassland to Blue Oak Woodland and ends in Chaparral. Abundant wildlife. Next to Giant Sequoia National Monument (free).

We are about a one hour drive to Sequoia National Park, but we're only 16 miles to groves up Hwy 190. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily accessible and others more remote.

Our ranch is a nature preserve and an educational/demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.

Please see the Rules and Safety section to review our Waiver of Liability.

Our friends at WildPlaces host all kinds of community outdoor events and are a Hipcamp site, too.

River Ridge Ranch is amazing, we can't wait to come back! The campsite has a thick layer of soft soil which made it comfortable to for sleeping on top of in our tent. It's a short walk from where you park your car, the bathrooms, and communal kitchen area.

The ranch is beautifully detailed and cared for. The communal kitchen makes cooking outside so enjoyable! Everything you need for cooking is provided, including a stove, oven, freezers, and industrial sized sinks for washing dishes. We loved eating dinner by the fire pit. It was especially cozy once the sun had set! The outdoor shower is very spacious and has hot water. The bathrooms are clean and have a sink with soap right outside. Both the shower and bathrooms have lighting, which is nice for nighttime.

One of our favorite parts about the ranch was the swimming hole! At the sandy beach, there are chairs, floaties and a canopy provided. The river's temperature was perfect when we visited on a hot summer day.

It's very evident when you stay here that Gary has much so much work and thought into making River Ridge Ranch a fun outdoor space for people to share. We can't say enough good things about this place!

Cooling off on a warm day.The "Hidden" campsite is easy to spot with the red sign.A cozy, hidden spot to pitch your tent for the night. The communal kitchen and hang out area!

Gary was a pleasure, alongside all the other campers we met there. Everyone we met were very helpful with where everything was, where to go, and how to get around the campgrounds. Loved Hidden Camp spot! It was somewhat secluded and the ground was very soft. It wasn't hard to find once in the camp site. Although, there are detailed notes on how to get to the campsite and your spot; I would recommend getting there earlier to find, as well as set up if it is your first time here. It definitely gives you some outdoor adventure with a modern twist! If you don't want to go full on without appliances, then hidden camp gives you the best of both worlds while roughing it. My boyfriend and I enjoyed Hidden Camp! We look forward to booking this spot again in the future! =)

Site was amazing, had a great time at our stay. When we got there we didn’t know where to go and had no one to check us in or have a host, we asked the campers and they were the most helpful there. We love having all the utilities and especially having company and hanging out at the fire pit to socialize was a great experience. Overall our stay was great, meet really nice people there and they had what we needed. I would recommend to friends and family!

Awesome spot for a big group of people, though my friend and I had a blast just us two! They have everything you need here and lots of helpful information in nearby areas to explore. Will be coming back!

Hidden Camp was really easy to find with Gary's instruction! We got there at 1am and was able to find the site with ease. The site's a little dusty and there were ants all over our tent, but it's camping! The 722 Acre Ranch Preserve is SUCH a cool and well maintained space!

We had the best time at the ranch. It was so quiet and relaxing and tbh I LOVED hearing the cows at night. This place is really a gem. If you’re the kind of camper who likes having their own cooking utensils and tools (I am!) you may want to bring them to use in the communal kitchen. Otherwise, everything is provided and well appointed. The hidden site is...hidden! It was so chill and we had insane privacy. Pit toilets are cleaner than any site I’ve ever been to and there’s so much to explore on the property. I can’t wait to come back.

Loved Hidden Camp! This site is tucked away nestled into a corner of the ranch property between several trees with a bench adjacent. Just a few steps away from the tent site is an open patch where we were able to grab our camping chairs after nightfall and do some stargazing. We LOVED the swimming hole which was so nice to dip into on a hot summer day. River Ranch is a large property with ample amenities included running water and clean toilets (that have lights in each stall!), a fully equipped indoor-outdoor kitchen and dining area, and huge communal bonfire pit area. We also loved that we were able to cross the river and venture into the pastures to visit the cows.

Gorgeous property, clean, spacious, and convenient. Will definitely be visiting again and bringing more people! Would definitely recommend this property for larger groups or families in which you could rent multiple tent sites/ cabins while being sharing mealtime and campfire time together.
