You will park at our permaculture farm and it is a short walk back into the woods. The woods may be shared with treehouse and tiny house guests, whose accommodations are a comfortable distance away.

You will enter the property and park at our farm. The greenhouses, garden beds, bees, chickens and orchards provide food for us and others in our permaculture group. The farmstead is the base for work-trade and educational opportunities centered on organic, biodynamic farming and permaculture. Because we have a rooster and so do our neighbors, you may hear crowing in the early hours.

We are located on two acres approximately six miles north of Crescent City, California, halfway between Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California—a comfortable day's drive (350 miles) from each city. We are three miles from the old growth redwoods at Jedidiah Smith State Park, part of the Redwoods National Park jointly managed by the state and federal governments. The tallest coastal redwoods in the world are within 10 miles of us.

Two miles separate us from the ocean as the crow flies, about four miles by road. The nearest beach is Tolowa Dunes State Park where you are likely to see elk herds and porcupines. The beach is lightly used and on a weekday morning you can walk for miles north or south without seeing another person, though you are likely to see seals staring at you from the surf.

The town of Crescent City is six miles south. Here there is dining and entertainment, shopping, a museum, a beautiful crescent-shaped beach with surfing and tide pooling opportunities, the National Park Visitor center, a park with the nation's only beachfront disc golf course and more. The largest coastal lagoon south of Alaska is very close by with a hiking trail that starts less than a mile from the property.

A few miles north is the Smith River, the last un-dammed river in California. It's clear, turquoise waters can take your breath away at first sight. Upstream there is the Siskiyou wilderness and Six Rivers National Forest—no mining, agriculture or human development are allowed to disturb the landscape or water. The unique water color comes from the rare serpentine soil. The area also supports the rare, carnivorous pitcher plant (Darlingtonia Californica.)

We welcome you to our redwood grove!

The hosts were very accommodating as the weather took a turn for the worse as we arrived. There was a winter storm warning bringng lots of rain and 60mph wind gusts. The hosts recommended canceling but since we were already there after driving from south OC we got their permission to stay the night. The property is great! Very nice permaculture farm with a small redwood grove. In the redwood grove there was the platform, tree house, and tiny house. The platform and tree house sites are within eyeshot of each other so if both are booked then people will probably see and hear each other. It was a short walk to the platform and the spot was perfect. I highly recommend visiting this site during the dryer months as the wet ground between the redwoods can be like walking on a wet sponge.

A gorgeous and convenient spot! The caretakers and their dog and cat were all so friendly. Some distant dog barking at night and roosters in the morning but it all added to the experience. The platform made it easy to keep the tent clean and the redwoods above helped keep us nice and dry. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful stay at the Redwood Grove. The tent platform was under a grove of beautiful redwoods. Host Dave gave me some good local hiking suggestions as I was leaving. Pet dog and cat were also very friendly. I hope to be back sometime soon.

The tent platform was surrounded by some of the most beautiful nature, you really feel like you are deep in the forest, and it’s a pretty short walk from the parking lot! I was also shown a ton of hospitality and got an opportunity to tour the homestead which I am very grateful for :)

Such an enchanting place to be tucked in the Redwoods. Loved getting to look at the permaculture gardens in the morning. The cat is the sweetest most snuggliest friend. Loved the quiet night by the trees. Be prepared to wake up with the chickens.

This is a gem of a spot! The permaculture farm is so cool, and the camping spots in the redwood grove are magical. Blue the dog and the (name unknown) cat are friendly as can be and so adorable. I wish I’d been able to stay more than one night and had gotten to talk to Hope about the farm. If rain is in the forecast for your stay, be aware that the tent platform will NOT keep your tent dry on the bottom even though it’s elevated, and that it’s a little walk from the campsites to your car.

This was a charming stay. The host came to great me when I arrived even though it was late. I reserved the platform site and slept right under the redwoods and stars. The sink, trash, and compost made it easy to wash up after a nice breakfast, and the surrounding compound of buildings, gardens, chickens, turkeys, and flowers was beautiful! It’s a gem I hope to come back to soon.

Had a lovely stay at the platform, if we had known about the tree house we would have stayed there! No rain so we slept out and enjoyed looking at the stars and silhouettes of the redwoods. A very friendly cat came and hung out with us for the evening.
