The site was beautiful, and Ruth was kind and thoughtful. Overall a good experience. But many things need improvement:
- Her communication skills made it difficult to converse about simple details such as when each party could check in (some sites say 2pm and some say 4pm). She forgot multiple times to get back to us, and her hipcamp chat was sporadic - sometimes quick, sometimes more than 24 hrs, and often in broken, incomplete sentences.
- We were told we had the entire site to ourselves but this was not the case. The area had at least three other groups staying, and some of them wandering around for hours, confused about basic things like where the bathroom or their site were.
- Some parts of the site are not well-maintained. The tent pads have retaining walls that have fallen apart, with loose dirt that collapses underfoot. There are jagged boards all around and lots of unfinished projects exposed. The walkway near the pool has loose, broken wood with tripping hazards and sharp edges.
- Know that you are sharing the space with Ruth and her sons. They joined us in the pool with her grown kid doing big cannonballs into the water.
- The zipline is a bit dangerous and lacks warnings. The ladder is broken, and if you go from the top you WILL hit the tree at the end quite hard. If you were to twist around backwards (easy to do), you would crack your head against the tree at the end. Luckily, I stayed forwards and was able to run into it feet first.

Very easy to find and in a great location. Ruth was easy to communicate with & accommodating. The pool and trampolinr were exactly what the kids needed to have a great first camping experience :)

This was a gorgeous property and my kids and I really enjoyed our stay. The campsite felt private and the kids enjoyed the trampolines and zip line. A few things to know: they don’t accept late check in. We arrived around sunset and they told us this was their home and they made an exception for us, but don’t like to wait for campers. Be aware of your noise level if you have young kids. They asked my daughter to be quiet so people could relax there. I felt self conscious about bringing her around. She is two. They were gracious to lend us a blanket when we forgot ours!! We really appreciated that. Enjoy your stay here. Peaceful and beautiful

The Oak Tree site at Redwood Paradise was a secluded site with soft dirt like mentioned is the description. Ruth and her sons are great hosts. Kind and accommodating. I asked if there was a picnic table at this very new site. They hadn't yet put one in. I left it there, but when we arrived there was a small table ready for us. Totally unexpected which added to the delight of this spot. 5 or 6 sites total on the property and this one was very private. We stayed one night, but in late July we were able to use the well cared for pool, trampoline and zip line. Perfect entertainment for my 5 year old son and us up for anything parents. Bring bug spray, pack light (there is a bit of a walk to camp) and enjoy this good vibes place. I must mention it is in close enough proximity to Santa Cruz, roaring camp train, mystery spot, state parks, grocery stores and good eats in the towns of Felton and Scott's Valley. Make a day or weekend of it.
