The Observatory Site is the reason we bought this property. It’s awesome. This site is at the highest point on the property at the end of the road. Its location gives guests 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and maximum privacy and distance from other guests. This large site can accommodate mid-sized trailers and multiple tents and comes with a “mini-cabin” for an extra sleeping shelter or a place to get out of the elements. The Observatory site is furnished with a large steel fire pit with spark screen and stainless-steel grill insert. Guests will also have a commercial grade picnic table for twelve and a 10x10 ft. raised wooden camp platform for you to use for tents, canopies, cowboy camping or stargazing.

This is my 2nd time staying at the Preserve and my first time at The Observatory. The site was clean and ready when we arrived. The mini cabin was a nice touch and convenient since I didn't want to pitch a tent. I would stay here again!

The observatory was a perfect spot! Was way up at the top an no one went up there or by there! The view was amazing and it was so calm and quiet!
Just getting to the place was easy in my sedan was worried about the dirt road and accessing the camp but easy in my toyota corolla! My dog and i left the camp and went off to go for a long walk and it was so peaceful and quiet! Also you can actually see the stars up there
Its close to home but also far away enough from the city!
I will definitely be coming back!
Thank you Bob

Directions were spot on to the campsite. Observatory was a great choice. Platform was nice we brought a couple of easy ups for shade and Porta potty was clean and no noisy people there seems like they listen to the curfew rules etc.

Positive experience at the Observatory site. It was mostly quiet, the little structure was nice to stay in, and the directions were very clear. Would recommend.
We loved this site! The deck for a tent was perfect as well as the small shelter in case it gets too windy or cold. The privacy was great and the views were amazing. Will definitely be staying again!
Amazing site and experience all around. Great panoramic views. This site was at the top of the campground everything spaced out nicely. The mini cabin at the site was adorable and saved us the trouble of setting up a second tent. Slept two comfortably. Some great rock scrambling and bouldering on the ground. Great weekend getaway- highly recommend
This place is just the best of both worlds camping in the middle of no where but still close enough to civilization for the "city boys" our fur baby's enjoyed themselves as much as we did! Can't thank Bob enough for extending our reservation when we had car trouble....definitely recommend that you bring shade for the day .... we will be back!! Stunning sunrise and sunset with the 360° view!!!
The observatory is the highest elevation spot at the Preserve. There are great views of Palomar Mountain. We really like this spot at night as you can look down at most of the campground that has really cool led lighting placed throughout the property.
