It's that time of year - all the government campgrounds are booked! We really wanted to go camping though and I am so glad I stumbled upon HipCamp and these private campgrounds. Our host Bob was super helpful. I messaged before hand to get some help deciding on which camp spot to book. He recommended the Overlook Site #1 and it was fantastic! Loved the wooden platform for our tent - really kicked the experience up a notch. It was warm and windy so don't forget your popup shade and stakes! Lovely spot. We will definitely be returning :)

This is a great private spot that is true to its name: the overlook has amazing views of Palomar Mountain and the valley bellow. We spent 2 nights, and drove the trails on Palomar Mountain, which were very easy to access from this location. Bob was very nice and checked in to make sure we had what we needed, and even delivered firewood that we were able to purchase for the second night.

Very large site, we used a small portion of it. View from the site

We had a great weekend of camping with our dog at Overlook #1. 👍 Our campsite was large, had a great view, and was well taken care of (nice fire pit, table, and wood platform). Bob and his wife, Magda, happened to be on site and were great hosts. We'll definitely be back!

Overlook #1 at Pupterra is an amazing place. The views are spectacular and the entire campsite is very well taken care of. Bob was super communicative throughout the booking process. Our kids had a blast. Watching the sunrise over the hills from camp was really nice.
