Here at Raw Roots Farm we offer campers a true small family farm experience. Our tent sites are perfectly nestled in along Owens Creek and adjacent to our pumpkin rows and Intern Cob House . Each site also has 50 to 200 year old oak trees towering over them, tons of flowers, frogs, bunch grasses, miwok pounding rocks, and more. You also get the experience of camping amongst our 4-acre no-till, non-sprayed, yummy bountiful produce farm!

While at our farm you will enjoy the cacophony of birds all day long, thousands of frogs chirping from the creek, dragonflies galore, and chickens being chickens.

We love and take great pride in our rustic campground. Because we only offer three sites you will find that you are able to truly relax and get away from that busy campground vibe.

Our outdoor kitchen is also rustic, but still provides you with enough flat space to cook a good meal. There is an outdoor sink that you can use to wash your dishes. We have a few seats available, but it is best to bring your own camping chair if you want a guaranteed spot to sit down. There is a flat table to use for preparing your dinner. This is a communal space that is shared by all three campsites and our farm intern when they are there. We ask for individuals to clean up after themselves after they are done using the kitchen. You can also use your platform (sites 1 and 2) to set up your camping stove to cook upon as it is elevated off the ground. We do not provide any kitchen stoves or appliances for campers. There are a few items in the communal kitchen area that are used by our intern. If you need to borrow a camping stove, please ask.

Farm fresh veggies, fruit, and eggs are available for purchase upon request...just ask!

Creek Perch (site 1): Great for one tent that can fit on an elevated, flat platform (8'x8') looking down on Owen's Creek and adjacent to the communal kitchen area.  To find the Creekside Perch Follow the path and signs from the parking area and you will see it on your right on the hill looking down on Owens Creek. (1-minute walk) We do not recommend booking this site for more than one tent.

Miwok Village (site 2): Great for one tent that can fit on an elevated, flat platform (10x10') and is on a slightly more moderate slope surrounded by grass, wild flowers, and miwok pounding rocks. This site is closest to the hot shower. To find the Miwok Village, follow the path and signs from the parking area and you will see it on your right on the hill looking down on Owens Creek. (1-minute walk) We do not recommend booking this site for more than one tent.

Willow Creek (Site 3 (group site)) : This site is by far our largest and on flat ground. A group can easily fit 3 or more tents here. Willow Creek is literally on the creek ledge looking down on the bubbling Owens Creek. You can drive up to this site but must return your car to the parking area as we do not want to ruin the views of the other camping platforms.

All sites have access to the creek which is a short 1-minute walk. Search for gold, dragonfly larva, and cool igneous or metamorphic washed rocks. We also have a 200 acre oak woodland across the creek that is perfect for a solitary sunset stroll.

There is a Rustic Redwood hot shower in our small 6 tree redwood grove, a communal fire pit with free fire wood (during safe fire burning season), and farm tours upon request (donations welcome!)

Finally, we are located only 2 miles off Hwy 140, so no need to go winding through mountain roads to find us. There is also a YARTS bus station about 1.5 miles from the farm if you wanted to take public transportation into Yosemite for the day.  Check-in is between 1pm and 10pm.  We look forward to meeting you!!!

Keep in mind we keep our fees low because we are rustic and small! :) If you are interested in camping in a "KOA" style campground, then this isn't the place for you as we are a truly rustic, yet beautiful setting. If we were fancy, then our price would be a whole lot more. Thank You. Be well.

Great pit stop on your way to or from Yosemite.
Area’s to park a van or set up a tent, drop toilet & a hot shower.
Posh people might find it a bit too much but for everyone else, it has everything you need for a nights stop

Beautiful area to camp and about an hour drive to Yosemite. We had a great time exploring the creek and the boys loved the friendly farm cats and dogs. The tent decks are awesome but pay attention to their sizes listed on the site. Agree with the other reviewers about the sites being extremely close to each other. We were super lucky to have the whole place to ourselves but would have been fine either way... Beautiful wildflowers and weather this time of year. The bathroom hut was really cool too!

Andrew was helpful and gave us a quick tour when we arrived. He was really welcoming and even offered to help unload... note that you will not have cell service if you have AT&t! So we weren’t able to text when we were pulling in and had to knock on his door...

Over all a great time!

My friend and I loved it here! There was a flat, raised platform for our tent (it's not huge, but we had plenty of room) right by the creek and a small table that we ate at. There is also a hot outdoor shower! Beautiful stars at night, and not too far from Yosemite! We only planned on staying one night, but ended up staying an extra! Andrew is quick to respond and super friendly! I would recommend this hipcamp in a heartbeat!

The site was as expected and all we needed, enjoyed being close to Yosemite! A fun weekend away from the bay, wish the weekend could be longer!

Private little campsite in a huge prairie of sorts. Woke up to birds (Jays & Woodpeckers) chirping before sunrise and saw a cute coyote departing from his night walks!

We enjoyed our camp. In particular, the quietness, the stars, the landscape and the wildlife that came out at the magic hours of dawn and dusk (bats, hawks, coyotes, tons of birds and a possible bobcat). It was great being so far out in nature. Arrival was effortless and easy thanks to the signs and directions and there was just enough phone reception for us to get driving directions when we wanted to go out on excursions!

The location was great - very close to Mariposa (which has some great food), Yosemite and Bass Lake, we found it a great base.

The site did feel a little cramped. In particular, we would have liked an area to hang out at night outside the tent (there was a small table but only one chair) and since our tent was a little big, there wasn't much room on the wooden platform that was our site. Site 3 made it difficult to get the car up to the tent, but that wasn't a big problem for us as we didn't have much gear.

Those points are all minor. Overall we enjoyed our trip. It was very peaceful and revitalizing! Thank you Andrew!

I would highly recommend Andrew's farm! Their campsite was exactly what we were looking for - a beautiful place with a super convenient location! Although we didn't get to meet Andrew in person since we arrived late and left early, he was very responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Great outdoor experience! The outdoor shower was wonderful. Very rustic and not for everyone! We loved it! Good for those who don't need luxury and just need a hot shower and a place to pitch a tent. Compost style toilet.

The hosts were very kind and accommodating and the site is beautiful and well maintained. However, this is not an ideal site for someone who wants to get away and have a quiet time in the wilderness. The campsites are all in very close quarters to one another and we were squeezing around fellow campers to get to the kitchen/bathroom. There was also a party going on at the farm one night which was too loud for my sister and her young son - they ended up not staying the night due to this. The toilet is really awesome and a composting toilet but not fit for all body types. You have to climb up on a stump to be able to get to the toilet seat.
The hosts were very kind when we discussed our concerns and returned some of our money, but these are things I would have liked to know in advance.

Response from Andrew, the Host, on June 25th, 2018

Hey Liya! Thank you for staying with us. You are right that this is not the wilderness. The only places to stay in a truly wilderness area with few people around are in the backcountry of Yosemite and neighboring National Forests in our area. We are sorry you didn't have the best stay while you were here. We host a Farm to Table dinner at the farm only three times a year and you happened to come to stay during one of those events. We have had campers in the past join in our our dinners and have a great time. We will be removing the stump in the composting toilet area and putting in a step stool. The toilet is elevated to make the clean-up of the buckets a lot easier and accessible - hence the design. Finally, we are sorry it seemed a bit cramped down at the campsites. We have had a few instances this year where groups are showing up with more people than they have booked for, which makes it get cramped. We do our best to make sure the group sizes don't get very big, but we can't control everything. Again, we would have been able to help you all out a bit more while you were here, if we knew about these issues at the time of your stay with us.
