Lovely site! The hike in was great, just note that it’s basically all uphill, a bit steeper in the beginning of the hike, we just brought too much stuff with us but it’s totally manageable and pleasant with just backpacking gear. Secluded area with a toilet and the outdoor shower was amazing (great hot water). Turkeys met us in the morning, had a great time.

Having the platforms was helpful for setting tents up. Was warm during the day but cooled down at night. The hike in is a climb but heading back is easy.

Really good location for first-timers (us) with amenities not normally available at hike-in campsites (yay toilet and potable water!).

We really enjoyed camping here. It was totally secluded and the hosts have done a good job creating comfortable amenities. Even the camping platform is situated to avoid the early morning sun. It’s a little pricey for backpack style camping , BUT I understand it’s the Bay Area. It’s likely that we will return.

Conveniently located site allows you to escape into the wilderness without driving hours and hours to the Sierras. The only downsides were around 6:30pm, the hosts arrived to weedwhack around the site for 20 minutes, which was kinda loud. They were friendly but it would have been nice if they had done this before the 2pm check-in time. Also the next morning we got woken up at 6am by a bunch of wild turkey! I didn't see that mentioned in any of the other reviews, though, so maybe the turkey were just passing by the one morning we were there.

The hosts were very responsive and easy to find. Had a nice evening that felt like we escaped the city without having to do much to get there. The first hill is a touch steep, but not too bad.

Oakmuir's Haven is an incredibly special and unique spot. Being able to backpack into your own private Hipcamp right in the middle of the Bay Area is definitely something everyone needs to experience!

The views from the Hipcamp are absolutely incredible in every direction (Mt. Diablo! The delta! Rolling hills! Wildflowers!)

So thankful these incredible Hipcamp Hosts are stewarding this wild space and sharing it with Hipcampers. I'll definitely be back!

Beautiful hike, there were tons of wildflowers when we visited. Campsite was perfect — quiet and tucked away in the hills. Amazing amenities for a hike-in camp too. Would definitely recommend!

Hidden in plain sight is a remote getaway within driving distance to our home in Napa. We were looking for a hike-in spot to get into nature, but didn’t want to travel 3 hours. Hike through the John Muir preserve to a private land abutting nature trails. It was a solid 2 miles in, but we arrived to a cooler of ice, yard games, a toilet and hot shower, and total privacy. Would be really charming for a group camp or even small DIY wedding.
Best of all, we were close enough to civilization on the return trip to see historic downtown Martinez.

Even got 2 teens excited about backpacking!Dog loved the trip. Ticks loved the dog :-)
