We love Neil and his wife. After getting lost Neil came to find us and and escort us to the campsite. Not that it’s hard to find we were just frazzled. We had site South 40. A nice privet area with a pretty whit rock wall that Neil made. My husband rode his bike around the property. We will be back. Thank you , Tamara

We had a lovely stay at south 40! Stayed on site 2 which was great with shade, picnic table, water, and a fire pit. Our dog loved exploring the land and it felt very private! Hosts were amazing! Hand painted rock souvenir was very thoughtful!!

The quiet was delicious and contributed to a peaceful stay. Karin and Neil were very friendly and responsive to our questions and needs. Water was easily available at the site and the site had a good level place to park. We took short walks along the ridge and had fun spotting (LARGE) rabbits and squirrels. We hear coyotes in the distance and managed to stay awake long enough to stargaze. We definitely would return for another stay.

Each campsite feels like it’s on your own parcel of land and feels very private. Site 1 was very well kept up and the ground was very level in the tent & table area. It was also raked and groomed, so you won't have to move any rocks out from where your tent goes - they've already done that for you :)

Be sure to follow the directions they give on the confirmation page and you’ll be able to find the spot. The host came to check on me and made sure I had everything I needed. They also had a map and painted rock souvenir on the table when I arrived, which I thought was a nice touch :)

I had such a relaxing morning at the campsite. Took a little stroll around the property - there are pretty good views of the surrounding area at the top of the hill! Definitely recommend this spot if you’re driving through the area and want a nice, secluded campsite to spend the night.

It's so peaceful out here :)Cooking up dinner. Site 1 has a great layout with plenty of shade.Perfectly level spot for the tent.

Super sweet couple hosting us made us feel welcome yet gave us our space. There is zero light pollution so star gazing is magnificent! Clean beautiful site with a welcome gift on the table awaiting our arrival. One note... When you see the hipcamp sign on your right... stop, your camp site is behind you. Neil will come out to meet you. Be sure to share the make and model of your car so they can find you if you get lost.

If you’re looking for something secluded, off-the-beaten-path, that you’ll either have to yourself or with another camper a good distance away, something that’s easy to get in & out of, with THEE BEST hosts on the planet, book a stay at South 40! Neil & Karen are sweet, salt-of-the-earth folks that greet you with ice cream & a marvelous rock souvenir that Karen hand-paints herself. They aim to make sure you have what you need to enjoy their awesome ranch, with a map of walking trails, unmatched star-gazing, next to a stone fire pit, with a new toilet they just installed and spigot nearby. Our family of six went on Memorial Day to escape the parking lot state campgrounds and celebrate my oldest son’s entry into the US Navy. The 20-mile drive from main highways. passing vineyards and the Liggett Army Base as the sun set behind us, was well worth it! Thank you for sharing your rural slice of Heaven with us, Neil & Karen! May God Bless you both and keep you safe and healthy so we can return to see you again some day!

One of two sites for RVs with lots of space spread well apartKaren’s handy-workVery nice picnic table in the shadeGreat stone fire pit where we roasted weenies & s’mores

Neil and Karin were awesome host. I definitely recommend site 1, but both sites are great. Porto potty was clean. As were the picnic tables. Karin and Neil even brought us ice cream sandwiches. Short drive up a dirt road through a small grape farm, but not too far off the beaten path. It’s fairly dark at night for stargazing. And fire pits for s’mores. Great spot.

A note about cell service: Verizon works very well at all our campsites. T Mobile and other carriers are spotty.
