Quiet, peaceful, and clean! Loved our quick visit here. We arrived late, but Neil had put out firewood and solar lights for us so it was easy to get set up. Fell asleep listening to Coyotes howl in the distance and woke up to a beautiful property, perfect for a quick morning walk with the dog. Would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again.

Neil & Karin were wonderful hosts. Their directions were easy to follow, and as they mentioned, our GPS told us to go a different way but we followed their notes and made it with no issues :) it was a great drive, very relaxing once off the main road. We enjoyed our ice cream and our antisocial dog ran right up to both hosts who sweetly asked to give him a treat as well. One thing I didn't realize was there are 2 sites there, we apparently parked and set up at the wrong one, but since no one else was arriving that night they let us stay there. We enjoyed the hike up the hill and did a nice little loop with our dog a couple times. Oh, do not forget to check out the stars!! They were absolutely amaziiiiing!!

View from the nice little hill we wandered up above the campsite. Campsite :) loved the shade and picnic table with map of property and trails.

I didn't actually make it because my day got away from me. Neil was very thoughtful and provided great instructions, etc. I will try to make it back eventually.

Neil and Karin were exceptional hosts! They were accommodating and helpful with providing directions/information about the area. We loved our stay and felt right at home. My friends and I would book again as it was a great location for Big Sur.

P.S. They even offered us ice cream in the morning :)

We would highly recommend staying here. The drive was beautiful, going through the mountains, seeing the vineyards, etc. The campgrounds were well maintained and intimate. There are only 2 or 3 sites so you have your privacy which we loved. The hosts came by to say hello and brought us ice cream which was so nice and a great treat. We hiked around the property which was beautiful - we saw a red-tailed hawk and other animals which was a pleasant surprise. The outhouse was fine, pretty typical for a campsite. After our stay, we drove abour 30 min - 1hr to Nacimiento Lake and went kayaking. There are so few lakes in California (especially in the drought) so it was really enjoyable.

We will be back!

Several of our campers have enjoyed some time at Lake Nacimiento. Thanks for the tip! Look forward to seeing you again.

This property is very remote and it was quiet as no one was in the other site. next to us. It's 20+ miles off of Hwy 101 in Lockwood. Make sure you have gas in your tank. Neil, the host, gave us good directions on how to find the location, but it was a bit unnerving arriving at night in the dark. I recommend arriving during the daylight. Plan on a dirt road and dust on the way in and at the camp site. We had to spray off the bikes, car, trailer, etc. The site was clean, level, has a water spigot and maybe has an outhouse. (we didn't go in it). It looks like Neil has a second site called Hide Away Oaks, which is $20 less and probably just as nice. Overall, we would not stay here again for $64.80 as we just needed a place to pull in for the night. Beware of the HipCamp Service Fee of 18%. You might get more value if you plan on staying for several days, but there really isn't anything to do there except a walk about along the property which is dry, dusty and hot in August.
