Tucked away in Cougar Canyon just North of Escondido, Needles and Spines Fiber Farm houses 8 acres of space that backs up to an additional 700 acres of land preserve with a main trail/powerline road throughout.

We currently have 1 campsite available for pitching a tent. You can drive straight up to it on a dirt road and unload. It is quite large and has good shade, but does have a domesticated bee colony/box at it. We do have another campsite with a canvas bell tent at it if you are interested in that. We have alpacas, sheep, chickens, and 2 young active dogs. We also have honey bees (which, again, is at this campsite at the moment, so please take this into consideration if anyone in your group has an allergy or fear). Our property has several small trails throughout the chaparral for exploring and a short drive away is Daley Ranch and Dixon Lake with an extensive network of trails for hiking, biking, and horse back riding as well as fishing in Dixon Lake. Please note, Dixon Lake and Daly Ranch is not at our property, but is a 10 minute drive away.

If you have more than 4 people you can reserve this site in addition to the canvas tent site.

We are centrally located 30 minutes from the beaches, 45 minutes to the mountains, and a little over an hour to the desert.

We spent 3 nights camping here. The campsite #1 is tucked back away from the house & gives plenty of privacy. There is also a small table and 2 chairs at the site. The upper campsite is visible from camp 1, but there were no guests while we were there. So we didn’t hear or see anyone. The site itself could accommodate 3-4 tents.

We stayed during a crazy rainstorm. And water does pour down from the hills. So be aware when placing your tent.

We bought firewood and it was placed at the camp before we got there. The fire pit is up against a big rock, so it feels safe from wind.

The bathrooms are a bit far from the campsites, which only matters if you need to use it at night. It was nice to have a shower, but it didn’t have hot water.

The land itself is very beautiful and it’s fun to visit with the animals. The sourdough bread was amazing too!

The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Their house is far enough away from the site so it feels very private. I would definitely recommend this place.

As a bonus, there are lots of wine tasting areas near by and a lake to picnic at or rent a boat. Great location!

We had a great stay! Campsite was shaded and secluded. A short walk to the bathroom and to visit all the animals: Alpacas, sheep, donkeys and chickens! Views were beautiful and it was pretty peaceful! We would def return!

Loved what Grace has provided out here. It was a real treat walking her property and the electrical line road that seems to go for miles. Would absolutely come again.

Our experience exceeded our expectations! We pre-ordered Grace"s sourdough bread, which was delicious. The fire ring was sheltered by a large boulder, and Grace even lent us a lighter because we had forgotten to bring one. The site felt private, yet the bathroom was not far. Our daughter loved the animals, especially the alpacas. Truly a special place!

We enjoyed our camping trip a lot! Our kids enjoyed feeding the alpacas and sheep. The fresh baked bread is delicious. At night we saw frogs and a tarantula. There is a shower and sink for dishwashing. Excellent hosts! I would highly recommend staying here.

Nice spot with and even nicer family host! Would recommend it for a close camping spot. It’s tucked back in the property which is a beautiful succulent farm. The highlight for our kids (4&6) was definitely the animals - alpacas, sheep, donkey, chickens and the friendly family husky that was always around. And the delicious bread made was Grace was AMAZING!
