Cozy 300 sq ft rustic studio right off hwy 4 approx 5 miles past downtown Murphys. Perfect location to enjoy some wine tasting in downtown Murphys or venture up to Big Trees state park, go kayaking at one of our beautiful lakes in the warm weather or skiing at Bear Valley in the winter, hiking or just relax at our magical, secluded property and enjoy hanging with the sweet animals. I can honestly say the best part of my day is going out in the morning with a cup of coffee and just getting loved on by the donkeys, they are hilarious and such little characters! Yosemite is only a couple of hours away too! Four adorable mini donkeys, 2 mini goats, 6 chickens, 2 very cute ducks. 2 lovable dogs and a cat make up our crazy little menagerie. Enjoy the bocce ball court, sitting pond, hot tub, bbq, 2 gas fire pits, a large wood burning firepit when there's not a fire ban. It's a very quiet and secluded setting (except for some braying donkeys or quacking ducks). The tiny studio has it's own private deck, which includes a gas bbq, induction cook-top, toaster oven, sink, pots and pans, everything needed to cook a full meal. There is also a mini fridge inside, heat pump and a/c unit, ceiling fans, and coffee maker. We are walking distance to the historic Red Apple that has incredible hot fresh apple cinnamon donuts too! Comcast internet, and direct tv and netflix with a tv in the bedroom and living area along with some fun board games. Cell service is a bit spotty and verizon gets the best reception.
The backyard behind the main house is shared and we enjoy socializing with our guests if you like or we fully respect your privacy but are on the property at all times if you need anything at all. We love having families and children but want to make sure that we disclose that it's a working farm with lots of animals and things for little ones to get into so please watch your kids at all times as we don't want anybody to get hurt, those little fingers can look just like tiny carrots to the donkeys! The pond in the backyard is nice and shallow and perfect for little ones to play in while supervised. There is also a shallow pond next to the studio to get your feet wet or float to cool off but please watch small children closely around both areas. There is also a small dog run next to the cabin and well behaved doggies are welcome, but please keep a close eye on them around the donkeys, they tend to be skeptical of new dogs and can be very protective. We look forward to having you and sharing our little slice of heaven and our amazing critters!

Had a great time! Beautiful place to stay.
We had such a lovely stay at Barb and John’s little farm! Despite being a short drive off the main road, their property is quiet and private. The cabin is comfy, warm, and well stocked. We loved drinking coffee on the covered deck while watching the animals, and we got to hang out by the fire pit and chat with our wonderful hosts in the evening. We hope to return soon!
We loved staying at Barbara's hideaway. The place was clean, warm, amazing, secluded and straight up gorgeous. Barbara made the stay all the more special. She's really nice, attentive and always willing to help. She even let us borrow their snowshoes for our stay. We got to play with the donkeys, chill in the hot tub and explore bear valley/ Murphy's wineries. 10/10 would go back again.
Barb and Jon are both great hosts. The animals were very friendly. When we were spending out second night there, a snow storm was coming down the mountain. The lights flicked and it seemed like the power might go out. Barb and Jon set us up with a backup generator and patiently explained how to use one if the power does go out.
At the end of our stay, they also took the time and helped us clean the thick snow off of our car and put on tire cables. While we were driving up a hill, Barb helped us again by pushing our car up the hill as the tires were not gaining traction.
Luckily, we were able to get off the mountain safely. The host Barb demonstrated great hospitality and compassion again by texting us to ensure we have gotten off the mountain safely.
We appreciate what the hosts have done to make our experience a fun and safe one. Finally, We recommend staying at Barbara's Land.
Upon arrival in Murphys it was easy to find the location, Barbara was very warm showing us around, and the cabin was well prepared for our stay. You can tell when someone really cares about providing a nice place to stay, and Barbara has put a lot of work into this site. The donkeys were friendly, there's a handful of local attractions, and each night was a long deep sleep. This is a perfect place if you want to enjoy some time down to earth in nature, but still want household amenities. The only thing we wished for was another day of vacation here.

If you love animals, rustic outdoors, and a glamping cabin experience then this is a great place to unwind and escape the busy city life. Barbara is so attentive with any questions I may have and they even gave me fresh eggs from their chickens. We went in early September and in the hot weather they build two bonds where we could float or dip our feet in to cool off. The ponds also has a mini water fall for flowing water which is awesome. The cabin has a lot of the amenities for cooking at their deck and at night we were in the hot tub while star gazing at night. I had such a great time! My boyfriend and I plan on going back again because so much of the amenities are available. The Red Apple Bakery is only a 5 minute drive away and the downtown is only 10-16 minute drive away. They serve really good pies, donuts and turnovers. If you're looking for an easy weekend getaway this is a great place to stay. I highly recommend!

Barb and John have truly thought of everything to make your experience an incredible one. The cabin is adorable, the donkeys, goats, and chickens are the sweetest, and between the sitting pool and the hot tub, there's plenty of water features you can choose to relax in.

An incredible find - we were sad to leave and definitely plan to come back. The little home was perfectly appointed with everything you need. Bed was super super comfortable. Barbara was the perfect hostess and our kids couldn’t get enough of her farm animals. From playing with the baby goats to cooling off in the pond to relaxing in the hot tub, we easily could have stayed for a few more days and not been bored. Very close to downtown Murphy’s and walking distance to the most delicious apple donuts (The Red Apple). Highly recommend staying here!
