Booked last minute and Katie was very accomodating! Trail to private access to the river was amazing especially with kids. River was only about 2 feet deep and rocky, but we had a private sandy shore and we all loved the adventure and cool water. Site was rustic but within 10 minutes of a store. Right off the road which hubby liked. 10 minutes to Bullards Bar reservoir.

We are active campers and travelers and would rate Katie’s place as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places we have stayed. The site was very clean, beautiful and had everything we needed to feel at a strong connection with nature. We had the best time ever dipping our toes in the water and enjoying the relaxing sounds of the river. Communication was great too. We would highly recommend Moonshine Adventure Co. campsite! Simply gorgeous!

We spent 3 nights at this camp and everything was great. The area designated for camping is pretty big and the portable potty was very clean. We loved the path to the sandy beach and the one inside the creek to walk through it.
The creek had cool and super clear water and it’s not depth. There is a nice chest depth hole for swimming right after the rapids.
There was nobody else at the creek and it was super relaxing.

Just what our family needed... The campsite was right off the small road (which didn't seem to be heavily traveled) and had a large pad for parking, the campfire, our six person tent, and a large screen tent for our kitchen. And there was still PLENTY of room. This site would accommodate a larger party and/or multiple families. There was a nice port potty, which was well lit, and came in handy for the kids. Then, there is just a short walk down the path to the private river access. Truly... the river was shallow, approximately 2 feet, and had calm areas and one faster moving area. It was clear that there had been work invested to make a gravel pathway (under the shallow water) out to "rock island".
We lived in the river, during our stay. With this in mind, I would encourage others to bring picnic food for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner and eat right on the river. The campground/river were filled with minnow, crayfish, tadpoles/pollywogs, deer, lizards, and more. The kids had a blast learning about nature and playing. We heard the river and the frogs at night while in our tent. So amazing.
Honestly, it was hard to pull the kids away from this site... and amazing to see how fortunate we were to have our own private river area. As we were driving home, we could see the public areas of the river packed with people.
This place is definitely a little slice of paradise... and the host was very communicative, thoughtful, and helpful. Thank you, Katie! We look forward to coming back.

Our tent looks so tiny here... plenty of flat space which is shaded in the morning and the evening. Sitting up our kitchen/play area for the kids.A view of "rock island"... with shallow pools, warm water, and a wonderful place to sit and relax. The view looking up the river, while standing in the river.

Thank you Amy for such a thoughtful response. We are so happy you enjoyed your time and we hope you book with us again. You are correct - we spent HOURS - making the path from the beach to "Dog Island." It makes such a difference walking with arms full of chairs, books and lunch. Thanks again for your wonderful and thorough review!

I run a risk by providing this review--once the secret gets out about this wonderful property and its owner, I may never find an available weekend for a return trip.

But seriously, Katie's place is a slice of heaven. A dip down from the main road is the campsite nestled around by a forest with a (short) path to the river, where you can sit in the water in your camping chairs or floaties all day. (The path includes a conveniently located bottle opener on a tree.) And that is what we did...soaked in the river all day and enjoyed the fresh blackberries and mint growing along the rapids. We set up a canopy in the river and just kicked back until after sunset. At night, the paths to the river and up to the porta potty were well light.

Speaking of the porta, it was the cleanest experience to date, and Katie makes sure it is clean for your arrival and right after you leave for the next guest (how lovely!).

We were the only set of campers at the site (no more random campers next to you) and her property is surrounded by private property on both sides. Privacy, privacy, privacy.
We had ten friends in four tents, one small camper van and a 19' RV trailer. It was easy to maintain our space, but no more vehicles or tents could fit there, so take it seriously when she says four cars and no more than 12 people.

Finally a nod to Katie...what a responsive, friendly owner. She answered all our questions and really did everything to make sure we were comfortable!

If you are looking for a relaxing campsite with private access to a serene section of the Yuba go no further. This place is magic!

The path from campsite to the river...glorious!Our 19' trailer, that took some master maneuvering, one (of four) tents, and three (of four) cars (parked in the driveway). Our river set-up! Drift around the river or sit in it. Either way, you will be refreshed and relaxed! The rapids that were lined with blackberries and mint!

We had a great time soaking in the river. Thank you for sharing your slice of river heaven with us Katie! The blackberries were amazing!
Tips for happy campers:
*Bring shade for your tent. It can get sunny and hot mid day.
* bring river shoes for river hiking
* bring a chair or floaty to sit in the river and lounge. You might want an extra camping chair so that it’s not wet at night.
*pack that sunscreen and bug spray. You are sure to get an awesome tan
* bring some lights to make your camp sparkle at night.
* bring more ice then you think you might need. There are some stops to stop along the way to refresh on ice if needed.
