Tahoe Christmas Valley cabin
What a perfect little cabin! Mimiâs place really feels off the beaten path: secluded, quiet, hidden in the forest right along a peaceful bend of the river with no one else aroundâŚbut is really actually so close to anything youâd ever need or want to do in the South Lake area. It was about 10-15 minutes into town for essentials (like last-minute ice cream runs), as well as if you wanted to spend time at the lake itself, and 15 minutes over Luther Pass to the Hope Valley area with tons of more amazing hiking and climbing. Speaking of climbing, this cabin is walking distance (!!) to the beavers climbing area, the Christmas Valley trailhead, and only a couple minutesâ drive to the boulders in Christmas Valley. It was a luxurious treat to get to relax at the cabin in between adventuring and exploring all there is to do in the area.
Inside the cabin itself, Mimi has set up the most comfortable and cozy getaway. There are four beds upstairs, each in their own small partitioned areas so that a group has room to spread out and have their own spaces. Thereâs a full bath with shower and flushing toilet, and a well-stocked kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, pots and pans, and everything else you need to make full meals. Thereâs a comfy couch, reclining chair, small TV screen, DVD and VHS players with a seemingly unlimited supply of movies, and a ton of board games. Plus a wood-burning stove for the colder nights! For the summer, the cabin stays relatively cool inside during the day, due to the tree cover and being so close to the river.
You can tell that Mimi and her family have put plenty of care into the place and have experience with hosting people there for many years. Itâs a rustic space and feels like a piece of history, but was clean and well-kept. Mimi herself was extremely responsive and helpful before, during, and after our stay. She also provided very detailed instructions for everything! We felt very lucky to be able to enjoy this little beautiful piece of Tahoe, and will absolutely be back.
