Welcome to Sky Mountain! Our family is happy to share with you this beautiful land in the Los Padres National Forest. Enjoy mountain and ocean views overlooking Santa Barbara. Camp among a unique variety of trees --palms, pines, oaks, & chaparral. Includes electricity, kitchen amenities, filtered water, composting toilet, solar shower, and internet and cellular service. Very beautiful & convenient location!

Shady Pines: This beautiful site can accommodate up to 3 adults (children no charge) 1 large tent, or 2 medium, or 3 small tents. (Price is for 1 camper, $20 per additional adult.) Parking for 1 car about 150 feet from site is available. (*No sleeping in vehicle.) Be aware that a short walk up a path and steps is required to get to the site. The shared solar shower is near by. The shared compost toilet is about 80 feet up a path. We have a second campsite (Window Rock) that is just below this one. It may or may not be occupied while you are visiting. If you have a larger group, you may book both spots! The tent area has shade earlier in the day. Also, we do not have bears, so you don’t need to lock food up! Fires NOT allowed. NO propane cook stoves. *Please read this entire post before booking. *Note check in (4 pm) , and check out (2 pm) times.

We are a health- and eco-conscience family aiming to live lightly on the land. We are pleased to be able to offer a place for like-minded travelers to come and enjoy a convenient and inspiring camping experience. Located in the beautiful mountains above Santa Barbara, the land is surrounded by nature yet conveniently close to a variety of fun things our area has to offer such as: · Cold Springs Tavern (5 min) -- lunch & dinner in a unique dining experience on the old Stage Coach Road · Lizard’s Mouth rock playground (12 min) -- bouldering and hiking · Santa Barbara beaches (15-20 min) -- Hendry’s Beach, Mesa Lane Beach, Leadbetter Beach, to name just a few! · Santa Barbara downtown & boat harbor (17 min) · General shopping and restaurants (10-12 min) · Santa Ynez Recreation Area (15 min) -- along Paradise Road, with swimming areas and hiking trails · Lake Cachuma (15 min) -- boating, fishing, and day use (but no swimming) · Danish town of Solvang (30 min) —

Amenities: Shared by 1-3 camping sites. Being travelers and campers ourselves, we realize that having certain amenities makes the whole experience more enjoyable and can save a lot of money not having to waste food or eat out for every meal. - Electricity: Available for charging phones, etc. - Wi-fi: High-speed internet (of course, you don’t have to tell the kids ;-) - Kitchen: Filtered water, sink, small refrigerator, toaster, microwave oven, and a plug in teapot for hot water. Also supplied are bowls, plates, cups, and eating utensils. - Shower: Solar bag for warm water (hose is also available) - Toilet: Composting “Luggable Loo” provided in a private location

Other Details and Considerations: * We are a family Hip Camp with children, pets (two dogs and a cat), and neighbors (about 275 feet away) * Road Noise -- We live close to Highway 154, which means we are close and quick to many places but also hear traffic noise from this two-lane highway. Please take this into consideration before booking. Most people aren’t too bothered by it (and some compare the sound to waves as they come and go). * FIRE BAN -- Absolutely no fire! We live in an extremely high-risk fire area with very dry vegetation, so no campfires, candles, smoking, incense, lighters, matches, etc. * Arrival and departure -- Arrival between 4-10 pm. Departure by 2:00 pm. (We suggest that you arrive during daylight for easier setup and orientation to the land and your campsite. If you need to arrive after dark, please let us know so we can best guide you when you arrive.) * Quiet hours -- Very quiet from 10:30pm to 7:30am, Semi quiet in the evening from 9:00-10:30 and in the morning till 8:00 am. Thank you for your consideration of others and of our neighbors. * Musical instruments, or music—Live music is greatly welcomed! Playing pre-recorded music on devices is allowed if the volume is low and is used in consideration of others and during non-quiet hours. * Intoxicants -- Please no illegal drugs or excessive use of legal substances. * Parking – We have a somewhat bumpy driveway that is quite steep. Most cars are able to drive up fine. Please let me know if you have an extra large van or truck, we might not be able to accommodate large vehicles. * Children – We love to have children come! Be aware that we are on a mountain, therefore there are slopes where small children/toddlers will need to be watched carefully.

Thank you, Mila for being able to accommodate us with short notice. We enjoyed our stay. Waking up at sunrise to see the sun rise over the ocean was beautiful. Kitchenette and bathroom were clean. Tent area was comfortable. Thank you.

The property is beautiful, has a bunch of fruit trees, pines, beautiful grape vines, and allows for both light and shade. The amenities pictured in the post are as shown and make the camping easier if you're interested in it. Mila, the host, is incredibly kind, responsive, and accommodating. The drive way up to the property is quite steep, and be prepared to drive up it on paved tire tracks, but Mila will send you clear directions to get there. I would definitely stay here again!

James greeted us with warmth and subdued enthusiasm upon our arrival. The location in the mountains above Santa Barbara is amazing. Skies are beautiful. Facilities are basic and sufficient… with bonuses like fruit grown on the property and granola made by the host.

Road noise was a bit louder than expected and other campsites were close, but the overall chill and warm environment remained intact. Would definitely recommend to others!
