If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
We had a wonderful time here..the photos on the listing didn’t do it justice in person! Thankfully Michael has built this covered wooden platform that held 2 - 6 person tents because it was down pouring! During our stay.
So many great acres to explore and some of the best views around. This listing could definitely fit at least 5 tents surrounding a fire pit.
Will definitely be back in the summer!
Beautiful+rugged but w/ an asterisk
Mike's plot of land is beautiful, very remote and rugged. And the vantage point of the specific site on his lot where we were camped was pretty terrific -- nice mountain vistas -- really pretty views. And we had both a rattlesnake and tarantula sighting at camp, which was pretty cool in a scary-fun-wildlife kind of way. That said, the remote camping I ideally love has no people nor SIGNS of people. But the campsite has a lot of stuff around -- old water tanks, stacked old lumber, old trailers, old fire hoses, even a random toaster oven hanging out in a bush. And the most natural place to pitch a tent (or in our case, park vans) was littered with broken glass. That said, there are some nice touches -- he provides a garbage can with a lid and even a porta-john down the hill, for those who are into that. The site certainly has its upsides -- what a wonderful piece of wild country. Just know what you're getting along with it.
The site was great! Mike had great communication, gave us directions directly to the site which was easy to find. The shed/deck provided much needed shade, plenty of space to spread out. Sunset from camp was beautiful. The portapoty was down the hill a bit from camp and very clean. There were a few other campers/cars just over the hill from the site (right next to the portapotty) but we had no interactions with them. It does get windy but made the hot sun bearable. We had a wonderful (much needed) camp weekend!
The best birthday trip!
Can’t wait to come back! Mike was a great host. He made sure we were all able to find the campsite easily since it’s so remote. He also gave us our complete privacy so we were able to truly embrace this secluded peaceful space. He was very responsive and quickly replied to any messages with requests we had in preparation for the trip. Would highly recommend! Beautiful spot :)
Amazing private getaway with a view
Mike's Desert Oasis was perfect for a private getaway with a view right next to Anza-Borrgo Desert State Park. It was nicely tucked away off a main road and right next to the host's market/store which he offers a discount to the campers! He was a very nice guy and told us a lot about his land and what he's planning on doing with it! One of his plans includes adding an orchard to the property! Can't wait to see his plans take shape.
