Five minutes from the town of Oakdale with lots of shade and beautiful green lawns for easy camping, you can experience a campsite like no other! The daytime can be filled with swimming, fishing, and rafting on the Stanislaus River, or just exploring around the many beautiful spaces on the Ranch. Then, in the evening, the entire property lights up and you end up in a magical wonderland of peace and tranquility. Secret spaces are a many on the property and there is tons of art to see everywhere you go, day and night. Flushing toilets and hot showers are on site (a total must!). The owner of the property is very friendly and always willing to give suggestions for fun activities, places to eat nearby, etc.
Please do not come to our property if you have not booked to stay there that day. We are always doing construction of some kind and have equipment running most days. This is not a park, or hangout spot. Too many people decide to just come by with friends or family and it isn't covered under our or Hipcamps insurance. Please book a stay.
We have numbered sites, but we will place you at a site, or sites, upon arrival. Due to the high volume of visitors we have to move people around so that groups coming together can be placed together, or that we may be able to tend to certain areas of the property that may need some extra attention. We thank you for understanding and bearing with us! Can't wait to see you at Ozz Ranch!

Gorgeous family fun, small issues
This is a newer hip camp property from what we could tell and it was mostly really really great. The grounds are spectacularly beautiful. The pictures don’t do it justice. There are all kinds of very cool little hideaways and structures and art and interactive fun to explore. I was there with my three kids and they loved all there was to explore. It is close to town for a run to get more ice or to restaurants if that’s your thing while camping out. Also please note the bank of the river that this site has access to was a little too deep with a strong current for small swimmers, but fun to splash about ankle/calf deep. A couple of things they may still be sorting out: the campsites weren’t marked which led to a bit of confusion in getting settled, but the onsite groundskeepers/residents were very helpful. The first night we were there we shared the grounds with about 6-8 other small groups which felt lovely. The second night we were there was full up, probably 12 or more other groups. This felt too crowded. The bathrooms got messy, it was a little loud, the little river beach was uncomfortably crowded. We would love to come back and stay again and see how these few small bugs get sorted out. All in all it was lovely.
A magical and beautiful place
There is something extremely special about this place. I could walk around here for months straight and likely never see all of the little gems this place has to offer. I have already booked my next trip here!
The land is plain and simply beautiful and very well maintained.
There is a small beach where you can hang out knee high in the water without going in to the river where there is a current.
The camping sites are decent size and, with the exception of 11 & 12, are all grass.
All camp sites have shade.
There are a couple of meadows with places to sit, swings, and are probably 10-15 degrees cooler than other areas because there's full canopy.
There are 3 toilet rooms with flushing toilets.
There is a shower room for men and one for women. Both have two stand only showers with consistent hot water.
I stayed a weekend when all campsites were booked and full. We did not have an issue with noise. Of course we heard people and my dogs did more than their fair share of barking but everyone was extremely respectful.
There is a CVS, Grocery Store and Misc gas stations and restaurants within 5 minutes with ok supplies.
Should note but not cons (for me):
The bathrooms are about a 3-5 minute walk from some of the camp sites. It's not a big deal and a beautiful walk but if you have kids or go to the bathroom a lot in the middle of the night, you may want to consider bringing a camping toilet or something of the like.
If possible, bring a sun shade/umbrella/easy-up, etc. While each site has shade, it is varying degrees dependent on where the sun is.
Consider bringing some seat protectors, etc. just in case. While they have them, there were moments of low stock.
Above all - just book it. You will not regret it.
I’ve stayed at many Hipcamps but this one has been the best one I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at. This place has it all- hot showers, toilets, river swimming complete with a rope swing, and endless places for you to explore. We did two day trips to Yosemite while staying here, and it was the perfect place to come back and relax. Adult and kid friendly, you truly can’t go wrong staying here. We had such a blast walking through the property with art pieces and details you’ll never stop discovering! Thank you for everything Michael, you are an exceptional host that went above and beyond. We look forward to coming back soon!
My experience was 10/10
Respect on the River is a special place. Mike (the host) is great and hearing about all the history is fascinating.
Showers and toilets are easily accessible and clean. The river runs along the camp site, just a hop, skip and jump down the path and you’re swimming. There are multiple dining areas and spaces to gather with your group while not impeding on anyone else’s time there. 100% recommended!
Exceptional amazing adventure
Wow! Wow! Wow!! Is what we kept saying every step we took when exploring the amazing grounds of this sight. So much more than we could have ever dreamed of.
This was more of an and experience, art exposition than just camping.
If you are considering camping here, don’t hesitate. You will wish to stay longer and not want to even leave.
It was all so clean, the river is amazing!! The art and vibe you experience surpass our wildest dreams.
A magical place!
Ozz ranch is a beautiful, magical wonderland alongside the stunning Stanislaus River. The owner Michael has put so much work into the place and the result is incredible! There is something new and beautiful to discover around every corner. As well as being an amazing artist, Mike is also really kind and welcoming and his passion for art and for the earth is reflected the magnificent surroundings. There was some noise from the road but this also means it was really easy to access shops for any supplies that were needed and the beauty of the place makes up for that. We are so happy we found Ozz Ranch! :)
Get lost by the river
Staying here was like being in a mystical fairy land!! We set up our tent with a view of the river. Shane welcomed us, showing us where to set up and giving some guidance to a spot down the river to hangout and use a community fire pit. We chatted it up with Mike and he told us of a couple good spots to explore on the land. There are surprises at every turn and beautiful wood carved art, hanging lanterns, and just an array of unique pieces. I could hangout here for days! A must stay.... we will be coming back often that’s for sure :)
Was not expecting this!
First time using Hipcamp and all I can say is we are hooked. We thought we would try something new on our trip to Yosemite and stay somewhere first then leave early to spend a full day in Yosemite. After meeting Michael and seeing this property we didn’t want to leave. Everywhere you looked there was something to see huge carvings of Indians, an eagle even a huge monster mouth you walk into to go to the river!! There are bathrooms, showers, next to the river, lots of shade, and the place even lights up at night. Family friendly and clean. If all the places on hipcamp are like this I better get a new tent. Must see if in the Valley.
Beautiful grounds with art on river
Beautiful camp with amazing art and secret nooks all over. Right on the river. Nice bathrooms with hot shower. Everyone was very friendly. Great stay! Highly recommended!
